    update on HOT ROD RIPOFF

So, I will find the thread where I ask people to help me join a boycott of HOT ROD magazine.

Well, today I got what looks like a REAL collection notice. It comes from what is called

    National Credit Audit Corporation
    8512 Allen Rd.
    Peoria, Il 61615-1527

    Toll free number 1-800-800-2228

I called it and it is a SCAM.

I believe it to be set up just for these ripoff magazines.

I had to listen to the menu and find an option for free magazine offers you wish to cancel. Did so

Then it says your account is clear and to disregard any further letters.

THEN it says that they don't report this to credit agencies and it won't affect your credit.

I damn near had a stroke when I got it because I didn't ask for the stupid magazine...had a subscription and didn't extend it because it SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS.

I don't know how they can get away with this. I guess it could be legal but it shouldn't and I will find a lawyer to sue them. It is blackmail. Plain and simple.

How many people are going to risk their credit scores for 12 dollars?

I would have, but most won't.

I recently chose not to renew muscle mustangs, and of course they send you those envelopes in the mail with the repeated discounted price offers to renew. I choose to throw them away as I dont currently want to renew. But now they've been calling me repeatedly. Its borderline harassment. I dont want to renew right now for my own reasons. If in the future I choose to renew i will do so. But what do their repeated call attempts aim to do, other then piss me off!

Those "renew us" things, do they come with a postage-paid business reply envelope? If so, use the paid envelopes to mail them the subscription cards of their competitors.

Only problem with this is that Primedia owns 99% of the car mags these days. They'd probably start you a subscription to whatever you mail them.

Well in that case just throw in a used condom. They only have to pay for the postage if the envelope is mailed back. Maybe if they get enough bullshit responses they'll take a hint.
