    00 Z28 sold :-(

This popped up when looking at your links http://www.walmart.com/ip/Vizio-RBE3...ndingMethod=rr

I'd personally spend the extra $30 on the vizio and get the 100k:1 contrast verses 3k:1 on those others.

Sorry, I am not familiar with those brands. I researched LCDs back in December, but I didn't see these brands then. Viore looks to be Wal-mart's new house brand, also looks like it's made in China (with the quality levels that come with that), if that matters to you. Having trouble finding much info on Sceptre. I don't trust Chinese goods at all. Personally, I'd hesitate to buy a tv from a Chinese manufacturer, just for quality concerns. But I certainly understand if price/budget is a factor. Beyond that, I don't know and can't find anything useful...

    ----

Hmm, yeah I see, most of the known brands seem to start at about $100 more... Tough call...

I'd pay a little more just for peace of mind.

The bitter taste of low quality lingers far longer than the sweet taste of low price.

Here is a new, not refurbished, Toshiba for $290

I bought a Vizio last Oct and had high hopes for it. It was a 55" LED. after less than 3 months it had problems and i had to return it. I could have just gotten a replacement but I decided to get something else instead.
Ended up with a 60" Sharp Aquous LCD. So far Im happy with that.
Just thought Id share my Vizio story with you.

people see refurbished and think "junk" irght off the bat... referbished shit gets updated/new & improved pieces that went bad to start with... so in a sense they are better than new (as long as the new is a shelf item that has not recieved the new manufactured part)...

There is only one brand and one brand only I will ever buy again for a television...Samsung. They are the best.

Save up more and do it right the first time. You'll regret buying anything else.

I have a 40" Samsung LCD in the bedroom and a 55" Samsung LED in the living room. Best home investments by far. Their quality is unmatched when it comes to TV's.

And Spaz is right. Don't be afraid to look at refurbished products. Just make sure they come with a warranty.

My mother and gf have Samsung tvs, and I agree they are nice. I have a Sony Bravia, also quite nice. They tend to be a little pricier, but I got it on sale at Christmas time.

I'd personally go with a proven brand. My two are a Samsung and Vizio.

I agree, I have 2 Samsung and a Panasonic, and haven't had any problems with them.

Yeah Sceptre has been around longer I think, for whatever that's worth. They started making monitors I think, and maybe even laptops.

If you search through threads on here you will see how "off-brand" and other "cheaper" TV manufacturers have had issues only after little viewing/ownership time.

One of the members mentioned how he worked at an electronics store and they got back Vizio's often for repair.

I wouldn't consider Vizio a cheapo or off-brand anymore. They've really started to make a name for themselves and I've never had a problem with mine.

Vizio for budget prices, you can not go wrong....

becarefull reading contrast numbers. There is no industry standard. Each company measures contrast differently, so judge it by your eyes.

also remember all TVs look different in a big lit area like walmart or best buy vs a smaller darker low ceiling room at home.

Always stand back from the TV when shopping, that matches the distance you will be watching the tv from at home.

I always laugh when I see peopl judgeing a 52" tv at 2 feet away
