Touring Car Masters - Bathurst Australia 2012
Hey guys,
Thought some of you might be interested in a classic car race with Aussie and American muscle from the late 60's - early 70's. Bathurst is our flagship track here in Oz that the V8 Supercars ran yesterday in a 1000km sprint as the main event. Prior to this the Touring Car Masters ran a 5 lap sprint race that pulled no punches. A mixture of early Camaros, Mustangs, Falcons, Monaros, Porsches, etc make up the field.
Enjoy...

Mt. Panorama is a SICK track. I watched last year's Bathurst and it was intense. I'm waiting for the recent race to be televised on SPEED so I can watch. I'm also pumped to see the new HRT Car of the Future in action.
GO HOLDEN!!! OI!! OI!! OI!!

No. Speed televises the race for about 3-1/2 hours.

I know last year, Speed didn't cut away from the number 17 Jim Beam Falcon crash. They televised that whole fiasco.

I remember that crash. David Besnard, just left the pits after a driver, fuel, tyre and brake pad change. If I remember rightly he hadn't pumped up the pedal enough after the pad change and when he went to slow down into turn 2 it was too late and backed it into the wall and caught fire.
Check this one the year before. Watch for the camera at road level, it catches Fabian Coulthard just after he blows a tyre down conrod straight on the first lap. Just a passenger from then on...

Damn!!!
See I could watch this style of racing. NASCAR bores the shit out of me lately. Going in a circle is like watching golf, tennis, grass growing.

It's more intense. Seeing these cars slide through turns and hearing the LSx motors scream with the sequential gearboxes is pure sex. I love V8Supercars. I want to get an HRT decal for the back window of my car. They're coming to the US in 2014. If they come to the NE, I am so going to a few.

They ran the Bathurst 1000 at midnight last night on Speed. 2 hours of intense racing...and another driver slammed his car into the wall after a brake exchange. V8 Supercars/HRT ROCKS!!!
Glad to see another win for HRT.

Hows the finish... Over 6hrs and 1000kms of racing and it came down to 0.3 of a second between 1st and 2nd! The HRT cars actually came 4th and 25th this year though. Team Vodafone in a Holden came 1st and 3rd, with the Bottle-O Racing Team Ford in 2nd.
Traditionally Aussie V8 Supercars have only been Holden and Ford, creating a huge fan rivalry in the sport between the two makes. Next year will see the cars running a control chassis that allows other makes into the category. Nissan is already a starter for 2013, with Hyundai, Toyota and Mercedes-Benz having a sniff but not yet committing. The control chassis is the only major change with minor changes such as a move from 17" to 18" wheels to allow larger brake rotors. It still must run a V8 up to 5L (305ci), be RWD, have original manufacturers panels, and have 4 doors that all open and close.
A look at the new Nissan...
