    1997 Formula & 2003 cobra

Took the cobra to track yesterday! Results inside!

Finally i got a chance to run Cobra today. My buddy Steve and I went together. he tested out his 95 vortech supercharged GT today and he was in 13s.

i am kinda happy with my best today but I have a couple excuses

1: Track was not prepped good. even cars with slicks wouldn't hook and everybody would complain about it. A guy met with wall in his first pass and he was going crazy and saying nothing but track was not clean. poor guy couldn't even make 1/8th mile and out his wrecked car on his trailer and went home.

2: Wheelhop was crazy. Every run when i launched the car, it hopped pretty bad and i let go and that sure effected to my ET.

Result: Stock 2003 cobra, Full weight (jack/spare) on stock goodyear F1s

    12.70@112mph with 2.0 60'

    12.72@113mph with 2.1 60'

    12.92@111 with 2.1 60'

    13.1@113mph with 2.3 60'

    a few 13.0s@113mph with 2.2- 2.3 60'

My best trap was 114mph but i can't find the slip. Looks like i have lost a few slips. My buddies) saw my time slip which i trapped 114mph.

It was a good day. I will get nittos and run low 12s. It has low 12s in it, i could feel it but because of stupid wheelhop, i had to let go:down:

It has 12.4-5s in it. Check the 60's out. my best 60' was 2.0 wheel hop wouldn't let me launch the car the way i wanted. i just need to go to better track to run that!

We have bunc of videos but all the videos have shitty runs.. battery died so we couldn't video tape of my 12.7 and 12.9 runs.

    Oh well.. this car moves!!

me and a few locals will be at 41 in the next 3 weeks or so. wed love to have another fellow gearhead.

first off, get some DRs for the rear, that will easily knock off a tenth.
what kind of burnouts were you doing?
youre traps are close to mine.
with new DRs, i should hit 11s

Yeah, i have slicks in the garrage and i didn't bring them becaus ei haven't installed te IRS brace yet and without IRS brace if i put slicks on, i will say goodbye to rear.

I was on street tires, i wasn't doing any burnout, i just just cleaning them up like 1 sec.

Yeah, according to horsepower calculator, i should have 439rwhp with that trap. but I dynoed 370rwhp on mustang dyno. and i know, my car is NOT 439rwhp. it is just a stock terminator.

Wheel hop means your tires were sticking fine.
But you need suspension to keep that IRS steady.

yeah i know they are trying to stick but they cant and because of IRS, they start to hop.

BTW: these cars mostly wheelhops on a wet road where there is NO traction.

If i would have at least Nittos, i would have at least 12.5 time slip now.

perhaps you should get a solid rear axle? i dont know. ive heard stories about those independent rears breaking after track passes but im sure it takes more than 400lb/ft to do it. dont know if you prefer the irs to the straight axle of your lt1 but im sure the term rides alittle better.
what do i know just wanted to say great times and your car is BITCH (thats the new word for bad ass.)
im about to put nitto dr's on my stock 10 bolt and go to the track. i have a feeling im going into further debt....

IRS should have been an option in those pieces.

Thanks.. People with 500-600rwhp running 10s -9s on stock IRS. IRS handles a lot of power but you need to have IRS brace to hold the cover tight and NOT hop! thats it.

I would be looking for upper 10's at around 128-129MPH there.
Hard part would be hooking. I would have to learn my car all over again.

Also...I am sure something would break.

Going to be a while though.
New baby and everything going on here...been pretty busy. Won't be running my car that much this year period.

Dude you put a lot of $$ and time to that thing, make sure everything is strong. if you heat the slicks like 10 secs, those things will hook like a mofo.

the only thing i would worry is, wrecking it. looks like a lot of people loses control and hitting to wall. some are driver error and some are bad prepped track.

I am 99% sure you should be running like 10.8s-9s

At my altitude, the T56 is golden. Down there it might not like it too much. I am sure I could get some good runs in with it though.
    Driveshaft...borrowed time at this point.

I am surprised the 95 vortech charged stang was running only 13s.

So I take it if anyone bought one of these cars, the first things you SHOULD do is suspension?

I dont know much about IRS nor the difference between it and a solid axle. What exactly is better?

Still some very impressive times stock. Even with those bad 60'. Get those down to even 1.8 and your doing real good for stock. Bad ass Cobra.
