Tons of classic cars found, up for auction
Really kind of shocked this hasn't been posted here yet. It's been flying all over the internet over the past few days. It's a pretty awesome thing to happen.. all of these time capsule cars and whatnot. Read the article and comment.

That link will take you to the Yahoo page telling the story. There's an 11:33 video near the bottom as a 'teaser' as to what kind of stuff is in there. There's also a link to the auction website. If you click on the 'inventory' tab on the auction site you'll be sent to a PDF listing of the cars that are available. I would LOVE to spectate this auction!

I saw this, what blows my mind is the carelessness that the auction house is treating these cars. Leaving hub caps on hoods of cars with decent paint. Some other examples...

I agree! The less touching they can do the better IMO. I see in the video a powerade on the hood of one vehicle. Damn them! The shame is that ALL of them need completely gone over (the mechanicals) since they've sat so long. I imagine most engine/trans/driveline internals are rusty from sitting, indoors or not.

not to mention if they had Barrett Jackson doing it they clear a hell of a lot more in the end.

It is the wrong auction house, but Barrett isn't the answer. They would cost so much more to do the auction it would nullify any gains. Don't worry though, Mecum, BJ, and other big players in that industry will all have people there bidding on some of the select cars in that auction. And then they'll hit the auction circuit on the national level, some as cleaned up originals, others fully restored. A lot of them will be headed to museums as well. I don't really care either way, as anything done with those cars will be better than them sitting in buildings or in a field rotting away.

I talked to my Dad about that auction. He said it might be cool to at least go up and watch the auction, but given the press it's gotten, buying anything would likely be pretty expensive. Probably wont be any smokin' deals at that one. I think it'd be about a 10-12 hour drive for us.

Yeah, its' going to be a money maker for the auctioneers and the lambrecht family I'm sure. There aren't really any uber collectable cars anyways, it's just the whole 'new' old car factor that comes into play.
