Tivo, DVR, or DVD-R
I always miss my fave shows and I want to record them. Last time I ever recorded a TV show was on the VCR.
What do you recommend.
I am not sure how much Tivo is.
DVR is $10 extra through my Cable company
DVD-R not sure of a good unit.
discuss.

We have DVR at my house... It's awesome... Allows you to record 2 shows at once. Different boxes have different storage levals for more video logging.

DVRs are very convenient. If you have extra cash just go that route. DVD-R you'd have to buy the unit initially then keep buying DVDs unless you used DVD-RW. (rewriteable discs)

If You just want to watch them once then tivo or dvr would be the way to go. Most people just go dvr through cable box if it is offered. One less component. to have.

I did the Tivo HD thing. Super convienent for me. I can download from Netflix etc. No additional charge and it ties into my Comcast HD On Demand life is easier..
Love being able to click through the commercials too.

Tivo HD, we had a DvD-R unit which is layin around somewhere which was great too, HD is just the way to go now, just got a blue ray player today to go with our big screen. I hope in the near future they incorporate Blue Ray into their HD units .
Hope your getting lifetime service i know its available somewhere thats how we got it.
Good luck in your choices!

After researching the top rated Blue Ray units for performance and cost.. We went with a PS3 Unit, Cost is similar. Best rated Blue Ray quality and it plays games !!
Not that I need another console. but what the hell, some games only come on PS3 so it's all the excuse I needed for the wife.
Or she needed for me...Hmm it was her idea... Think I been schooled

I just got rid of my DVR box that was offered through the cable company. But I got rid of my tv in the room b/c I had no stud to mount it on where I'd like it. So since I have a much larger storage capacity in my PC so I got a tv tuner card and record everything on there...
But from your options, I'd go DVR. If it's like ours here, it also means HD channels.
