    Tips for moving out?

I got 9g's saved up. Looking for either an apartment or a condo. Do you go furnished or unfurnished? Is apartment life that bad? Is it better just to get a house? I am only 19 but I need the space! Is there such thing as classy apartments? Thanks! Give me all the lessons you guys learned when you moved out! Sock it to me guys.

I hate apartments, I'd rather have a house with its own driveway. Really hard to have a party or even a few people over in an apartment also. I'm from the country and have never lived in the city so I could be biased. lol. as for furnished or not, id rather worry about my own shit than something I have to give back in excellent shape when im done with it

at 19, you should look for a 500/mo single bedroom apt. You can find something decent, i don't know anything about where your from, but i would think that's above ghetto rent but below affluent stuff.

yes, living in an apt sucks-you hear all your neighbors, you park outside...

I would suggest getting a home, but @ 19 I can't forsee you making a house payment and affording furniture

Find yourself a nice house and put a chunk of that change down. You won't regret it.

I would buy a small starter home with that kinda chunk of change. Buy something kinda small and affordable. then fix it up, put some paint on the walls, do some landscapeing and flip it in a few years. You will get all your money back and then some for a nicer spread. Start small and gradually move up.

With the interest rates the way they are right now, you can get something pretty affordable right now.

Do not throw your money away on a crappy appartment.

heh... 9 grand is going to be about $50.00 less a month on a 30 year mortgage on a 150,000.00 fixer upper... not a huge difference... still a monthly payment over $800.00...

then you have closing costs... property taxes... electric... trash removal... possibly water and sewer fees...

now he's looking at well over $1,000.00 a month at 19 years old... then when he turns 21 he willl want to go out drinking and what not... now he is financially strapped and tied down and can't have fun...

First time home buyer loans can take care of the closing costs. A roommate can also help pay the home ownership costs. That's what I plan to do once I decide where I want to live.

he's still looking at over $1,000.00 a month on a $150,000.00 house... a room mate is fine as long as thier name is NOT on the title/deed to the house...

All of us idiots who have been renting are just offering our .02 about how much of a waste it is.

If I had bought a home when I went off to college, had roommates during college, I'd be in a lot different position than I am now. I figure the 4 years I've been renting I've spent around $25k on rent.. which would've gone quite a ways towards paying off a mortgage.

Only a fool would put a roommates name of the deed of their house.
