Ticket for 18% Tint
Good gosh ..... I have had my tint for 10 years, haven't had a ticket since 1987, drive the same 35 mile route (one way) for 15 years in and out of Atlanta - and TODAY .... I'm driving 61 in a 55 in downtown Atlanta and get pulled over for tint that measured 18%. I now have to remove it, appear to court to prove that it's removed. No disrespect to anyone, but it just seems like a waste of time for all parties involved.

Notes from your Optometrist doesn't fly out here in CA. But, I've heard it does in some states.

I'm going to look into it. I do have glasses that I wear from time to time.

Definitely worth a shot looking into it. That is how I know CA doesn't allow it. It should state so online from your state DMV site.

I have not gotten a ticket in a while for tint.
But when I did, it was cheaper to pay the fine, instead of removing it and putting it back on.
I don't see the point in the law, except to make money.Black 1999 Blown Convertible A4

I wish I had the option to not remove it. I have to remove it and then take it to them to prove it. I was just thinking that it wasn't dark enough and I was going to put on some 10%. I was just about to start on a 10% tint job on my `79 Firebird. Not now. I'll just put 32% on both and be done with it (if I can't get that note).

Perhaps just hit the junkyard for a pair of clear side windows?

We have something like that here but when you see the local police dept have limo tint on their cruisers it's kinda hypocritical. I think it's not enforced here.

Oh and to add insult to injury, some jerk actually pulled up next to me, stopped his car so that he could roll his window down and laugh at me ... right in front of the cop. I am a very curteous driver so it had to be someone that hated TAs and/or sports cars or something.

Here in Alabama, a window tint ticket is considered an equipment violation and you can fix it and have the ticket signed off by any law enforcement officer in the jurisdiction where you got the ticket. You still have to go to court, but typically you only have to pay court costs (they dismiss the fine). You typically have 72 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) to get it fixed and inspected, although some jurisdictions will let you have up until your actual court date to fix it.

Just throwing it out there but tint laws help law enforcement and their safety. Hard to see who or whats going on in a car with too dark of tint

Exactly. A member of the law enforcement is no better than a regular citizen. Why can they have limo(5%) tint on their vehicles but a regular citizen can't? Oh, that's right. Because they are superior to everyone else because they hide behind a fake ass badge and a gun.
I have limo(5%) tint on my Z just like they have on their squad cars. Two can play at that game. I've yet to have one of those assholes pull me over for it, either. But, I'm waiting for it.
