Are you asking if you should adopt him?

I was going to guess around 6 months.

How long have you been looking for one?

5 hours is a pretty long drive for a pup who hasn't had much travel time. Make sure you bring a crate. And get a toy and maybe a blanket from the breeder so he will feel comfortable.

For about a month, ive contacted most of the breeders around here, NC,SC,VA,GA most of them want some insane prices and this one looks pretty cute and apparently does well with her small kids and cats. Even though i dont have any other pets or small animals its nice to know. I do agree 5 hours is a long drive for a dog that quite possibly might not like me at all. There arent many that have puppys right now though.

Depending on the dog, the ride could be traumatizing as well. That is a long time to be scared out of your mind.

I had a little over an hour drive with my Papillons and one of them flipped out and to this day, starts foaming at the mouth as soon as I start up my car. He gets very nervous. I've never had a dog react that way before. I couldn't imagine what a 5 hour drive would have been like for him.

A month isn't a very long time. Pups come in 6 month intervals for the most part.

You also want to make sure that the breeder has references. I always say it's a good idea to check out her facilities before committing to buying a dog.

    It's a pretty big comminment.

Indeed thats why im trying to be pretty careful about it. I can stop halfway on the way back cutting the drive in half between two days. If i decide to do it i think im going to do that.

I'm sure you will, but I'll add that it's a good idea to bring someone with you to try and sooth him if he does have a problem riding in the car for that long.

    He is cute.

If he has the markings your looking for and you don't mind that he's already 7 months old, or the long drive... I say go get him and give him a great home

Let me know what you decide to do.

Just because you raised your pap to be a tard... doesn't mean the rest of us did. Mine happen to be extremely intelligent. Well, Caleb has his moments, but, Eli is brilliant And, my Dachshunds are just plain badass

That's good. But, like I said, bring a crate with you as well just in case. I always sent puppies home with a plush toy and a blanket that had their scent as well as the other pups and Mom. That seems to help assimilate them when going to their new home. I'm sure the breeder will too if you ask. If she is a good breeder, you won't need to ask.

    Good luck.
