test results in, I made it! USAF - E6 (TSgt)

That's right- I am active duty USAF and I made Technical Sergeant. (TSgt).

I will sew on my stripe probably in about 8 months (according to my line number)

They promoted 18% of eligible SSgt.

I love the AF, it is a great way of life.
Recruiting can be tough, but overall I still love the AF.
Space Ops was an awesome job. I am excited about getting back into that after I am done with this tour.

Congrats, I just have to worry about making Staff next year. I'm not planning to anyway, since it's going to be my first time testing.

Anyway, I always hear people say how Tech is the hardest to get. How long did it take you?

Congratulations on the Promotion!!! Hope you don't have to wait to long to sew it on.

Where are you stationed? I kinda work with folks like your rating.

Hey, just two more Promotions, and you well be where I am!

TSgt is the hardest to make.

I made SSgt first time. I made TSgt 3rd time. You get one 1 chance a year to test once you are eligible (missed it first two times by less than 6 questions.) I will have TSgt on before 10 years. I just passed my 9 year mark this month.

For the AF I believe the average is about 14 years. So I am ahead of the power curve.

    Thanks again for all congrats!

    LOL I wouldn't consider retiring @ 39 - Lifer

I consider being a lifer at a job is someone who works till they hit 60 or so.

But yeah for Military terms, I am definately going to retire Can't beat it. Plus I am already 1/2 way there.

agreed! Things change, and now it is a great way of life. ESPECIALLY the USAF.

You rarely run into someone who retired from those decades, because the pay was crap, and the lifestyle was very rough.

I know cuz I was in the Army then (74-78). Things were to fucked for me to stay even though they wanted me to stay (even offered me a nice re-up bonus) cuz of all the schools I'd been to and the awards I had acquired.
