My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
Test drove 2 GTO's
So i've had the Goat bug for a while now-pretty much since last fall. I'm finally feeding my craving by testing out 2 goats: 2004 A4, & 2006 m6. Now i never go do dealers with the intensions of buying-as i'm super content with my 2000 ws.6.
First ride: 2004 A4, 20k miles: Have you ever noticed that all dealer reps are about 230 lbs and completely retarded when it comes to car knowlege? I'll back that up later, but I was happy to take the a4 Ls1 out first. It was big, and compfy-had the same feeling of an 05 mustang; thick seats, upright position, almost like a sedan. The single exhast is simply blasphomous though-couldn't really hear it at all. Left the dealership and went to the highway. Dropped the hammer and 1st made me excited to see what 2nd would bring until it shifted @ 4500 and 2nd seemed to fall on it's face a second until the top end followed through, Had to shut down through 3rd at about 80. Frankly, it didnt' move fast enough for me; big let down. Left the highway and came to a stop sign/left turn. I looked both ways asked if the tires were new? He said "about 100 miles on them, we put new rubber on all our....." and i gave it hell as i made my left on to the lowly country road. Minimal spin, hardly the excitement I anticipated-i think that a good bit of tunning could really open these suckers up.
2nd Ride: 2006 Ls2 m6, dealer miles; First off, the color black is SO choice on these cars. If I bought one i'd have to buy black, with velocity yellow being a rare but close 2nd. The ls2's dual pipes really know how to humm a tune, very deep and grumbly. Love the ram air hood and wing much better than the ls1 hood/spoiler. The fat ass who rode with me told me "this is my first time in a gto" I said "well, i'll be glad to pop your cherry..." and with that I clicked off the TCS. Damn! Lots of LOW END torque on this thing. Pulled out onto the same highway, and dropped the hammer on 1st-took it to about 6500 and 2nd gear made me it's bitch. With an excited "GOD DAMN" he and i were thrown in the rear seats. Unbelivable power! I shut down 3rd @ about 100 or so and the salesman looked at me like "oh my god...." I have to say, this car is really REALLY well put together. Amazing gas milage too; 31mpg compared to the 17 i was getting while cruizing with the a4. We exited the highway and came to the same stop sign where i asked the virgin "are these new tires" he looked at me confusingly then I buried the gas pedal into the floor as I made my left onto the desolate country road taking the goat sideways until 7k in first gear: nothign but white smoke and a look of amazment in his face; he actually complemented me by saying "I enjoyed that; you drove the GTO like it was supposed to be driven, thanks!" I really REALLY love the power that this car has. I think anyone looking to buy one should definatly go for the Ls2 m6 as you have a lot more control over the power band and it's a lot of car for $32,000.

i am really wanting to drive an ls2 m6 goat. my only ls2 experience is in a bodies a6 c6 vette and i was very impressed with the power. your very lucky for the salesmen not spazzing out when u womp on the cars. most of em get real nervous real fast.

I tested a 05 red GTO a4. It moved when I punched it. The sales lady was gripping her seat pretty hard when I shut down at 130 mph. Would love to get behind a 6 speed. Only complaint was the cabin didn't allow the exhaust note to be heard enough for me. I also wasn't ready for the sedan type feel yet. I gotta say it has outstanding seats tho. The C6 seats might be a tad better as they are very sweet to.

I went to dealership once and test drove the silver/black 6 speed.
Came back home with a black/red 6 speed.
