    *******WARNING********

if you file online, aka turbo tax, HR block, free tax usa, etc....

becarefull, I noticed this for the last few years and so did my gf.

if I enter the exact same info in each one, each site gives me a different return amount. With that that being said, I file with the one that is the highest and it works every year..

does not make sense sight should be the same and is not. regardless if you do standard deduction or itemized.

    Sadly now demodded :(

Having a $12K+ deduction because of intrest on buying a house helps me a lot by lowering my GAI.

Agreed ... TurboTax has a free version and Basic for $29. They also offer a try it before you buy it.

So I did both with the same data (obviously) and the free version gave me almost $50 more on my return and didn't have the $30 investment in software.

    weird ..,

I hope I get a Homestead Rebate check this year. Didn't get one last year. But last year was the ONLY year.

My wife is disabled, so our property taxes were frozen in 2006. Also, we are in our final 10 years of our mortgage.

Consequently, tax and interstest deductions don't amount to very much any more. I've used the standard deduction the last few years.

I've noticed that too. Actually went with taxslayer this year because it was the only one that asked if I had bought a vehicle this year, I paid around 1k in taxes plus $225 for registration on said vehicle so with those two items which the other sites did not ask I got almost $300 more back. It took about 5 days to have my refund DD into my account, was plesently surprised when it showed up in my account on monday. The last few years it has taken at least 10 days.

Wait really, you get money for that? Sweet, I am going to use that. Saved me a bit of money... Any other ways we can save money?

Yeah I did, it did say "new car" which I did not buy a brand new car it was used. There was no little link or anything to click that gave you more info like if it was only specificly a new car or only 09-10 models or anything so I just went with it. Not sure if it really matters as your still paying taxes on it whether its new or used.
