Switch to new electric company

Hey Guys,


I just switched online to a new electric company for generating power - in PA, its a big thing since the rate caps came off and we can choose someone other then PP&L. You can choose 20% or 100% renewable green energy from wind power.

If your electric company is listed here, you can switch.....

NJ - Jersey Central Power&Light (JCP&L) Public Service Electric&Gas (PSE&G), Atlantic City Electric (ACE)
CT - Connecticut Power and Light, United Illuminating
PA - Pennsylvania Power and Light (PPL)
MD - Baltimore Gas and Electric (BG&E), Potomac Electric Power Company (Pepco)

I never understood how this works. My group of houses is fed tandem off of a 350kcmil from the secondary side of the transformer. So unless all of my neighbors switched too, and we had a new primary cable ran to just our transformer, my power would be coming from the same place no matter what the name on the top of the bill was. Am I missing something?

yes, lol. everyone is connected to the same grid. when you opt for renewable power, they use the money you give them differently.

everyones connected. But, if you look on your bill for the generation charge - if you switch - then viridian would be your supplier.

You still get one bill from BG&E or whoever just as you always wood, except instead of paying them for making the power - they will give the money to viridian.

PP&L are fucking ass holes... Peco just sucks ass cause if there is a tiny cloud in the sky electric goes out for hours...

I will never make the switch... The faster we use up the fossil fuels, the faster everyone will benefit after we all have to switch to green energy!!
