Question A suprise in the air box.....

Ok while doing my winter cleaning I decided to check my K&N. After removing the lid and filter I found a bunch of leaves. I was like WTF how did they get in here. So after a little leaf removal I noticed that somone prior to me has cut the plastic at the radiator. So is this a common so called freebie mod? and does it actualy help on performance? All I can say is that it makes for a good leaf collector and makes a mess of the filter in that area.

Yeah it's called a free ram air mod. Alot of people do it. Mines done. Just depends where you drive as to how dirty it gets. Mines not bad at all.

Well i do live out in the country, lots of trees and it seems everybody blows them out in the road instead of bagging them up.

    though you cant hear..
    i love you sweet leaf!!!

good thing the filter covers 100%, MAF could be damaged by incomming leaves, not to mention whatever else..

when i did my free ram air mod there, by cutting the plastic around the radiator, and opening up the bottom of my air box i was getin alot more bugs and crap in my k&n. so what i did, was removed the bottom tray, and took some screen, regular screen for a home window or door, and cut it to size for the airbox tray, then slid the piece back in then the filter, then lid...keeps alot of debris out of the filter, and all you have to do is remove the screen give it a shake and its all clean again
