    Summer Vacation Plans?

What's everyone doing for vacation this summer?

In June we are heading down to the Outer Banks with my brother-in-law and his family. We'll stay just south of Corolla, one or two streets back from the beach. Looking forward to some barbeque at the Duck Deli, early morning dips in the pool, and walking on the beach in the evenings. It's about a 12 hour trip no matter how we do it and I really try to avoid I-95 as much as possible.

We haven't been there since 2006 so it'll be good to go back. On a dare, I took my daughter to Awful Arthur's the first year she went. Sammie told me she wanted to eat clams -- I didn't think she would, but at 8 years old she cleaned the plate. This year she wants to go back and do it again. The trip should be a good time as long as the weather cooperates.

I have been to the OBX every summer for the past 3 or 4 years now. We usually stay in Corolla though. You gotta hit up Sunset Grill/Fishbones in Duck though.

I think this year we are skipping the summer getaway and heading to Key West December 26-Jan 2

I have spent many a summer vacation on the Outer Banks. Every 2 years or so my family from Richmond rent a beach house and I make the trip down. You need to check out Sam & Ommies down by Jennete's Pier in south Nags Head. Local hangout and great food! Clam's Casino at Awful Arthur's are one of my favorite.. My friends and I where going to get Tshirts printed up saying We got f..ked up in Duck! Couldn't think where we'd wear though.. Have fun on the OBX

We have driven on the beach twice -- both times we saw people get stuck going off the access track. One year, a dead sea turtle had washed up on the beach and it stunk for over a mile. Nothing could smell worse on a 90 degree day!

I'll keep the other restaurants in mind for this trip. Clams Casino is exactly what my daughter ate that first year. There used to be a place called "The Wharf" that had a seafood buffet -- I always stuffed myself with crab legs and shrimp. We usually don't venture too far south while we are there, maybe I'll do a little more driving and check some different places out.

I might take a day or two off. Might hit up Darien Lake one day with a friend again, might hit HersheyPark, definitely at least one trip to Canada on the bikes.

Come on up.. A trip through the Muskoka's on a bike... doesn't get any better than that. Only a 2 1/2-3 hour ride north of Niagare Falls! Stop in Minesing for a cold one:

As I said earlier if you make it to the Toronto area you really must venture a couple hours north and see the Muskoka's. There are so many beautiful lakes, forests and granite rock cuts to see. Crap, I sound like I should work for the Ontario Tourism Board! Once again stop in for a cold one!

Thanks! You won't be disappointed by visiting my neck of the woods... Who knows, I might be available to be a tour guide using my SS as a ride for you and your wife!
