    Stupidest Mythbusters Myth Ever

I honestly can't believe they tested this. Anyone who has a basic knowledge of physics knows the answer to this myth. We had a thread about this a while ago....

Course i guess the show is kinda stupid anyways..

yea, they said if a airplane was on a "big conveyor belt" and that if the conveyor belt moved in the opposite direction of the plane's moment at the same speed that the plane would not take off.

If there was a big enough dyno made, which is what they should have used so the plane would have been stationary. Just like when you see cars getting dynod. The dyno speeds up as the car accelerates, otherwise the car would jump off the dyno...I don't know, I just don't think they did it right, but hey they have the show, I don't.

If you could get the belt to move in the opposite direction at the same airspeed then the plane would not take off. I think they need to revist this one, as their conveyor belt for the large scale test sucked.

    WRONG...

Explain to me how equal AIRspeed in the opposite direction would not cause a stall, therefore making the plane unable to fly??

Maybe you should hang out in physics class a little more.

However you're leaving out the fact that planes don't use their wheels to move.

See above, I stated air speed, not ground speed.

Because we all know its the wheels that make the plane go.

a plane would work because air would cross over the wings... a jet wouldn't due to the engings being on the wings and not being able to have air pass over them...

they also didn't do the experiment right... the plane must stay in one spot due to the "tread mill" speed...

Does nobody in this thread read what's actually being posted, or do you nut huggers simply copycat each other?

If there is no air speed, i.e. no air flowing over/under the wings then nothing will happen.

the plane will ALWAYS take off....the power isn't put to the ground, it's AIR power
