Indeed. I've certainly gotten my share. Too many cities in Ga rely on ticketing as a revenue stream.

I do have to say that I have been very lucky though, I five years of driving I've received 4 citations, and out of those, 1 had the fine reduced, 2 were exchanged with lesser violations, and 1 was dismissed outright.

the study seems off.... of course the most populate states are the ones that would write the most tickets and be most likely to give you a ticket.

    -money generator
    -people control and safety

montanna, dakotas and wy, do not have a population like GA, IL or FL, to deal with

    Nice.

I can't totally complain. I've had some nice encounters with Ga police here and there. One Gwinnett County cop pulled me over for doing 95 in a 55 on I-85. You'd surely expect a ticket for that one. He asked me what my hurry was, I sheepishly told him I was late for a movie with my friends, and he said ok drive more carefully and enjoy the movie. I was shocked by that one.

On the flip side, I just got a ticket about 2 months ago in Alpharetta. A motorcycle cop was sitting in the shadows under a tree at the bottom of the steepest hill in town. Never saw him til I passed him. Gravity assisted turbo got me a ticket on that one. 13 mph over the limit = 140 bucks. Sheez.

    A motorists' rights group ...

The National Motorists Association says they analyzed ticket-related search queries using Google’s public search tool called Insights for Search. They searched terms such as “speeding ticket” and “traffic tickets” using the tool.
I wouldn't be quoting these statistics on any term papers or anything...

You know I was thinking about that as I read Ibanez's response, I thought "I wonder if they compared the drivers:tickets ratio for each state.... because just tickets in each state wouldn't be accurate at all"

Turns out it was even worse than I expected

There is a lot that would need to go into this to be even remotely accurate... It's not just a ticket per driver ratio. They said, "These are the states you would most likely get a ticket in." This is a probability problem which involves at least a basic knowledge of integral calculus and statistics. Also, this problem could have infinitely many variables like number of officers and area of each state (just off the top of my head) and most of these variables are dynamic (most notably population, the moment you figure out the probability of driving down a road and getting a ticket, your data is invalid due to population change).

    ...

    tl;dr
I wouldn't be quoting these statistics on any term papers or anything...

My last ticket was in New York -- probably 8-9 years ago.
