Why did my mind go to leading with clubs in the card game "Spades" when I read the title?

honestly i have been thinknig about it...cant be too hard
get a few friends together name the club..lay out some rules or guidelines
make a webpage for the club (optional)
and just recruit members...maybe have monthly or weekly cruises ..maybe a get together every once in a while...then from there
rent a day at the track (if large enough)
get merchandise
merge smaller car clubs into yours.

best way to start is to get some friends together and do a "cruise" for some non profite charity in your neighbor hood... advertise the meet for all intrested in a local paper... maybe a toys for tots run and then a meet at a resturant after... get some window stickers to represent your clubs name... call a news paper and let them know about the run... get a web site set up to let members and other intrested in the club know about meets and events...
oh... and it's going to be a shit load of work...

I came in here thinking you wanted to start a dance club/bar and got excited.
I was disappointed.

Me and some friends started one in high school. We would hang out at the carwash and cruise and we had shirts and stickers for our cars it was pretty cool and i was the fastest but then we all took different ways in college and there was girl trouble and that was the end of it

The reason I ask, is because F-bodys around here I feel are shut out. Too many Buttstangs and ricers. My car isn't old enough to join the classic car club here. There are enough T/A's and Camaros in the area that I think if word got out it could be a decent size club.

I ran our local club for 1.5 years, if you want it to be worth a shit its a lot of work. We had over 100 members at one point.

If you want to be an offical organization, you generally start with By-Laws and then file with the state. You can also operate as an unicorporated association -- all depends on what your goals are as to what you should do.
Once thing to be concerned about is liability -- if you host an event and someone is injured or killed, you may have issues. That's why event insurance is a good thing to have and it is generally inexpensive.
Again, if you are pursuing an offical status versus a bunch of people hanging out, start by plagiarizing some organizational documents. Here is one by way of example: http://www.psccny.com/about/constitution
