"SS" upside down?

Need clarification. I have seen numerous times on many different models that the "SS" badges are upside down, meaning the bigger part of the S's are at the top instead of the bottom. On my '01 SS the fenders and tail badges were fine, but the SLP grill had them mounted what I thought was upside down. In the latest "Chevelle" magazine, there is a blue '66 with a black front license plate with the S's upside down.

Is that how they are supposed to go, or do people just not notice what they are doing? Car guys are pretty attentive to those details, so I son't know why I see it.

Does anyone understand what I'm talking about? I need to find a pic......

The "396" would make this one hard to put on upside down...

thanks for the pics. The badges on the Camaro look upside down to me, but maybe I'm crazy. But I don't see them like that on every car. Makes me think I'm losing my mind.

there are upside down i have seen it many times. i do not like it like that.

I could most certainly be wrong but I'm pretty sure a proper "SS" badge can't be upside down - the lettering should be evenly spaced top and bottom so if it were upside down you couldn't tell.
