    Sources to find used cars

I used autotrader back in '07 to find my Camaro. Are there better sites to find used cars? I've been using autotrader and ebay, but there seems to be a shortage of the cars I'm looking at sometimes. It just depends. Also, are those review sites like Edmunds and such any good? I'm leaning towards finding a 2-door coupe of some type. I plan to use an excel file to compare reviews and features so I can find the right car and make the best decision, so a review site would be helpful in comparing things I think.

Right now I'm looking at these cars:

    Monte Carlo
    Grand Prix GXP
    Honda Accord
    VW Jetta

If you have any input for a 2-door coupe, I'm all ears. I think the GXP is only in 4-door though, so is the Jetta, but I will need to find those locally to do some test drives, make sure I have room since I am 6'3.

Also, I see a few of my friends own Mercedes vehicles and some are pretty affordable. There's so many different classes and types that I don't know the difference. Main reason I ask is, are they easy to work on or are they at all reliable in comparison to the cars I'm looking at?

Looking to spend around 10k, but would do up to 15k if I have to.

Damn, these things aren't that pricey. Not a huge fan of the wheels, but they look pretty good.

Look for the threads discussing German cars.

And no thread with German cars is complete without the pic of the Audi S4 timing setup

The fact that this is against the firewall and also notoriously problematic are enough to make the most stalwart Audi fan pause before getting one.

There's a reason you can find a ton of them for sale just before ~80k-100k miles, and that's because they're about to become a money pit.

Routine parts are about to wear out and the replacement costs will stun you.

I often quote the alternator on my buddy's BMW X5: $1400 replacement cost.

It's not that they are bad cars, it's just that parts and maintenance costs are staggering once they get some miles on them.

Nah. If you want more power in an 07ish 3 series, spend a bit more and get a 335i xdrive (AWD). Throw on a tune and catted downpipe and you'll be wiping your ass with bolt on LS1 cars, especially on the street.

There's one in town, but a bit more than I want to spend.

This car seems to be too good of a deal. They said the transmission was rebuilt and comes with the receipt.

I have a couple friends with 4.2 liter v8 S4s. Very fun cars.... while they are working properly. When Audi was asked "why did you put the timing chain on the back of the engine" There response was "It should never need to be serviced". Which might be true if they didn't use plastic chain guides like many engines do. Except you have to pull the entire engine to change them. Or like how you have to unbolt an engine mount to get to the starter easily. Or how they made a 4.2 liter v8 that is barely longer than my dick that holds 9.7 quarts of oil.

As for looking for cars might I suggest lemonparty.org.

I drove a Fiat across Europe and enjoyed every minute of it actually.

Craigslist has quite a few cars and the carguru is pretty good as well. I'm going to keep looking though.
