So why is it that...
... People that are disabled or have wheelchair stickers on their cars park like absolute shit? They always park crooked or take up 2 spots, etc. Does their handicap prevent them from parking like a normal person? Is it unlawful to park the correct way and inside the lines?
WTF?

Judging by most parking lots I see, I believe the inability to park is a grossly under-diagnosed ailment affecting most of the nation.

two more
Why are the "crippled" people (here atleast) always driving the biggest tallest vehicles? Wouldn't they be hard to get into if you were really crippled?
Also, why is being fat considered an official disablility now? The fat asses should have to park at the far end of the parking lot if anything

Same reason non-disable lazy ass ppl do. Don't care or can't drive. Most of the time it's the don't care.
Because if you have a wheel chair it's not going to fit into a miata or any other circus midget clown car. If the wheelchair is battery power they are even bigger and require more space. Agree most fat ppl need the execise and that being fat should not qualify you for getting a permit. But in cases like mine where 6 yrs ago I was 165 running 6.5 miles daily prior to my accident, then end up in a wheel chair and spend 18 months learning how to walk again. It's a whole different story.
As a disable person I agree that there are a shit load of dumbasses that are handicap, but to be fair there are far more "healthy" dumbasses then us.

I don't mean a ramp van or something. I mean a lifted truck. No wheel chairs, just fat asses

Yes I've seen those Jackasses too.
I get the most grief from old ppl. I'm young looking only 38 and they give me the
every time I park.

If the handicap parking was not taken up by idiots I may not have to. Im sorry that some idiot took my spot. But since they have and a wheelchair is my only means of getting around excuse me. To get in and out of said wheelchair I must open the door all the way. If you would prefer I could park normal then shove my door into yours and make sure to leave a dent and a nice mark. Handicap does not mean your a fat slob. The handicap can be something from birth. The handicap can be from some stupid drunk driver taking your legs. The handicap can be many things. Sorry that in your walking world I inconvince you.

I think you may have missed his point.
But one thing that does bother me.....YOUR SPOT? Are you the only handicap person that ever parks in that particular lot?
At least here, all of the handicap parking spaces have extra room on either side for the doors to swing completely open.
What the OP is talking about is those 90 year old people that can't see 3 feet in front of them trying to park and using 2 full spaces.
OP could easily be handicapped him/herself and be frustrated with the lack of the other handicapped population not being able to hit the parking spot straight.

That people parking in handicapped spaces (with legal tags to do so) cannot park straight.
I agree with that.
I also agree with IROC on that it isn't just handicapped drivers that cannot park 'accurately.'
I don't believe it has anything to do with a person needing space to get their chair out. Believe me, I know that pain. I am not personally handicapped but my 3 year old daughter will likely be in a chair for life, so I have a decent idea. Wish it was me, but that is another story.
I rarely use the 'parking pass' when I have Sara. I believe those spaces are for those that need them more so than Sara. She has someone without a disability to get her out of the car and into the chair. Some don't. Those are the people that need the spaces.
This still doesn't change the fact that when I go to the store, a good amount of the cars in the handicapped parking spaces are not parking well.
Granted, the OP likely should not have generalized it, but I get it.

And I guess I see it different. A lot of handicapped spaces do not give you enough room to get out of a door. Now if you have a van and get out the back then it is not a issue. Not all handicapped drivers have vans that let you out the back. For the legal tags I have no issues if they have to take up more room. Many times taking up said room gives the person the ability to get out and around much easier.

I agree with all of that honestly.
Maybe they are set-up differently in different places, but all the parking lots around here (at least the ones Sara and I frequent) have space on either side to allow for doors to be swung wide open.
I get what you are saying though. I have the Grand Ma GT as my daily driver. Her chair barely fits as it is (in the front seat is the only place) so I need to swing the door wide open to get it in or out.
But to the OP's point (albeit not that well put together), a small part of the reason I don't use Sara's handicap sticker is because of the parking ability (or lack there of) some of the others that park in those spaces have. I could hit the spot dead nuts perfect, and another person using a handicapped space will end up damn near on top of my car while I am inside. The worst is when I have to back out my car to get Sara's chair in because someone else missed their spot. If they would have hit it, the fairly long doors on the Grand Ma would have cleared.

A lot of the new parking spaces are like you state here. We still have a lot of older handicapped spaces here. They are wider but not even close enough to swing a car door wide open. What gets me more than the handicapped person who can not park well. Is the lazy ass person who is not handicapped taking up a spot. The law just changed here this week. The fine for parking in a handicapped spot is now $500. IMO I think it should be $1000...
