That is what I want as a project car. You can put a lsx in there it just has to be sideways. There is a site about it and a company that sells lsx swap kits for them. Search v8 archie on Google.

I drove a 86 once or twice. Seem quick back then. Sucked in the turns because the weight wasn't right IMO. But straight off the line it would hook up. I could see a LS in it, be one tight fit and like a Cobra (Orginal) it would go balls out and not stop worth a damn IMHO. I'd look for a v6 and turbo's myself

The 3800 supercharged V6 (out of the grand prix GTP, etc) is probably the most popular swap, and those engines are cheap and relatively easy to find. You could do that, gut it, put all the safety crap in it, and make it a track car (a lemons racer maybe).

I used to detail a GT back when I was in high school. Got to drive it a bit too. Not a bad car IMO. Always got a kick out of the speakers in the head rests.

I didn't read through the both threads, but I did notice a few links. Maybe some good info for you in there if you feel like reading it.

The 3800 sounds like a good idea. There have been quite a few to have just the regular old school 350's put in them as well.
My Mom bought a brand new one when they came out. It was an "ok" car, I didn't mind it.

V8 Archie has an adapter that mates up any lsx with the g6 transmission.

Turbo 3800 will put you in the 10s. A Gen V supercharged 3800 is good for 11s. That Getrag will hold the power just fine. The only real upgrade you'll have to get is a custom flywheel and clutch.

Weight plays a huge factor in it. If I put the power plant from my GTP (mid-11s) into a Fiero, it would easily be in the mid to low 10s.
