Question So...I just drove a '97 Mustang GT Supercharged...

...and I gotta say, I was not that impressed.

I walked in the door after just getting home from work, and my moms b/f's daughter wants me to drive it to see if her wheel feels bent (I work on rims/tires everyday and she doesn't know too much about them). So, I take it for ride. As soon as I start it, I notice she has aftermarket exhaust. It sounded good, but I didn't think anything of it.

So I start driving...get on it a few times, and I think, "Hey, this things not bad for stock." I didn't know it was supercharged until I got back, and her dad told me it was. I kept hearing a whine but, I thought that since it didn't feel too powerful, it may have been a vacuum line or something just whistling.

Anyway...shouldn't this thing just shit 'n' get with a supercharger? Maybe it wasn't properly tuned, or even tuned at all? I know they bought it used with the supercharger on it, so they have never had it taken to a dyno shop or anything like that.

Any input would be appreciated. I've just never driven one of those, and was wondering if they're all that weak with a supercharger.

Also...the ground was wet, but it didn't feel like the tires were breaking loose. Maybe traction was the issue? The car is also a 5 speed.

EDIT: Just found out the car is a 1996. Don't know if that makes any difference.

    Yeah something is OFF.

It will blow the tires off with LOW amounts of boost on wet pavement.

Your on a GM fourm so you'll get alot of shit talk. But I'll tell you straight up when tuned right it will make decent power with 6-8lbs of boost.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

    ahemmm.....pics?

And those non-pi engines put out a whopping 215bhp...she needs a intake manifold/head swap. Even my slow ass truck would walk one of them...pretty sad.

In the wet you should be busting gears thru 3rd-4th gear in a 5 speed... that is wrong, I forgot it was a Ford.

without at least a head swap running more than 8psi would still net shit to the wheels. The heads on those engines are literally shit.

Well, here in MI, 16 puts you in the Pokey.

Edit: Dont quote me on that. That's just what i'm told. A guy i know has sex with a girl that was 15 or 16 and he was 19/21 area, and her parents filed charges and he got put away for 2-4 years for statutory rape. Also...i dont care to venture into finding out if 16 is legal or not. I am too lazy.

    98 SS

We have some at the track running low 12's, high 11's with just blowers so they say.

I am not a Mustang fan but don't bet the pink slip unless you know what they have?

I wonder what the current GT is running to the rear wheels? I know the advertised HP is 315. Possibly 260/70?
