Some snakes just lose the interest to eat in captivity. Even live food. I've kept snakes for years...although now I am content in finding them in the wild and taking their pictures:

Don`t believe the story. The snake isn`t hungry at that time. Could be a day a week or month but he will turn on his so called friend. Although it`s quite big and the snake might not see it as edible. I raised snakes when I was a kid, from garter snakes to boas and pythons, cool pets.
