What is a good brand? Hard or Soft case?

i've never use a hard case... i've always used a soft case... i've never seena reason why i'd need a hard case other than running out of room in the gun cabinet...

Too much for just carrying it from the car to the range.

I like the idea that some come with a sling.

Roll it up in the rug on your floor, and tie a single peice of rope at each and to secure and use as a sling.

it's cheap... i wouldn't worry about ammo slots (unless you are going hunting)... most people bring a smaller duffle bag with ammo and cleaning shit to the range...

Why not just use a gun sock? Unless you are worried about major bumps, they work great, take up next to no space when not in use, are affordable (most are less than $10), and many are impregnated with lubricant/rust inhibitor.

But for travel, I use hard cases, most of which came with the specific firearm. Lots are available for under $60.

the thing is if he takes multiple rifles to the range it's a pain in the ass to make trips back and forth... soft case with a shoulder sling you can take a shit load at one time...
