Selling the Harley - what to ask?
The wife and I decided to unload our Harley a few weeks ago. I have absolutely no idea how much to ask and need some input. The bike is a 2000 Fatboy (FLSTF), pearl white, and has the 1450 non-fuel injected engine. The engine and exhaust are stock, add ons include the removable sport windshield, engine crash guard, padded Fatboy sissy bar, Fatboy leather saddlebags, and just a few dress up items. We also have a set of small and large black nylon T-bags, factory service manual, and a few tools like the belt tensioner and oil filter tool that may as well go with the bike. The bike has a new rear tire, new battery and just about 8,500 miles on it. No rust, no damage, and looks like a brand new bike. KBB has a retail price (what a dealer would sell it for) of $11,595, but that does not take into account the accessories or mileage. Here's a pic of the bike from a few years ago:

BlackCherry- Bad Ass 67 Camaro / 2010
If a Dealer is asking $12k, then you should ask at least $10,500
Only 8,500 miles on a 9 near old scoot? Damn, that is nothin!
Good luck, and yeah, the season may be over, but some of us bikers will still ride on the dry days in winter.Last edited by joerockhead; 09-27-2009 at 09:00 PM.

Put it on ebay and let it ride... I've been trying to sell my bike 2k under book for a month and no luck. It's not a sellers market, so unless you need the money you might as well hang on to it because your not going to get what it's worth. I'm to the point it's getting partedor stored til spring.

Sebring Silver- 2000 CamaroSS
Take it to Biketoberfest in Daytona & put a sign on it.
The fever will hit one of the thousands of "look at me, I'm a phony ass yuppie biker" & will buy it.

I would list it for $11,500. Your mileage is only goint to help you a little bit. Your accessories mean very little, if anything. Nice bike though. I would start at that and go no lower than 10,500.

Black- 99 WS6
I was just at Street Vibrations in Reno,NV and saw plenty of nice bikes for sale. Based on what I saw......you should be asking around 10,500. I saw '06 fatboy's with 4k miles for 12,500. I saw '03 fatboy 100 yr. anniversary bike with alot more upgrades for 11,500. The market is terrible for your bike right now.

Thanks guys. I was wondering how the market was going to be -- my thought was that the people who might want a new bike would be willing to look at pre-owned to save a few bucks. I actually had an inquiry yesterday, so I may throw it out there for $11,500 and see what happens. I have just lost interest in it and there are way too many asshats on cell phones driving anymore. Car or truck vs. motorcycle usually has only one outcome.

The area you live depends a HUGE deal. That bike were I live would easily bring you 14-15k just because we are a GM town and probably have more harleys here than I would almost say any city around besides milwaukee. Don't know PA at all for your market. If your area is flooded with them then I wouldn't go anywere below 11,500, but if harleys are hard to find or come by then 10,500 might be hard to get. Best bet would be to list it online and keep it at 12,500 starting out and not go below 11,500....

LIGHT PEWTER METALIC- 1999 SS CAMARO
These guys are right man I work at a Harley Dealership, even though that looks to be a real nice bike right now prob around $10k would be good. The accessories don't really add a whole lot to it unfortunately, even though they cost you alot? Believe me though it just depends on the market in your area too? Used bikes sale really fast at our store. We have a used FLSTF right now teal and silver 02 or 04 I think for $12,900? Fuel injected bikes tend to bring a little more? Good luck though hope you do well with it.
finally 551 RWHP!!!!
