its probably the vats system ready to take a dump. Look at your key, there is a resistor on it so when you go to start the car the pcm checks it to see if its the right resistance and will start the car. If a theif tries to just jam something in there to start the car it wont start. Your probably experiencing a bad connection inside the ignition lock, there are 2 small white wires that usually break over time. When they break you can forget about starting your car... Time to replace the lock or have the vats system bypassed.

Clean the the resistor or one the 20 gauge wires going from you ignition lock cylinder to the VATS has broken. The car will start and run if only one of the wires are broken. Not sure if both brake though

about 8 years ago mine broke and i had to have it towed to the dealer (was under warranty). They changed the lock. For you it might be as simple as cleaning your key/use another key/clean the lock out. If your car one day decides not to start you will know what the problem is. Only way to fix it is get a new lock, if you dont care about that anti-theft feature you can tune it out with ls1 edit or hp tuners or measure the resistance of the pelet on the key, find the wires under the dash and put a resistor of the same value inline..

Do the by-pass...there use to be a sticky/write-up on it in the general help section. I'd get on it if I were you...otherwise you might just find yourself stranded somewhere.
Ok found it..here it is. http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61262
