Savannah, GA
Me, wife, and a couple of friends are heading down to Savannah, GA Friday. I've never been there, but we are staying at the Marriot on the River.
Any places we should check out while we are there?

Could look at some civil war sites if you're into history.

Savannah is awesome, When I stayed there I was at the Hilton and just walked a few blocks to the nightlife.

one of the people we are going with is really big into history and has already making an itinerary, lol. we are only going to be there one night.
i think they said we are going to a Moroccan restaurant friday night and then try to go to Paul Deen's restaurant saturday for lunch.
i'm excited b/c i've never been to Savannah and i get the weekend off (which never happens)

definitely take a walk through historic downtown, very pretty. especially the parks that are on almost every square. another interesting place is the old cemetary.

I have been there so many times, what's there so special?
PS: Before my stepdad got custody of his kids from coke addict ex-wife, we had to go there to pick them up once a month.

The main reason we are going is b/c a friend of mine is coming up from Tampa, FL and Savannah is just about the midway point to meet up so he doesn't have to drive all the way back up here again (he was just here for Christmas).

All the stores, markets & restaurants down the riverfront are fun and interesting to look around in and eat at.
Definitely walk around downtown, like hamburger said, it's beautiful, many historical buildings/architecture, parks/memorials/monuments almost every other block, and oak trees with hanging Spanish moss line the streets. I believe they have a trolley tour thing if you don't like walking, I've never taken it though, the downtown area isn't very big.
It can suck trying to find parking sometimes, especially on the weekends when it's busy, but on the flip side, street parking is free on the weekends, so don't pay for a place in a deck, park on the street and don't put anything in the meter (It doesn't let you know it's free on the weekend).
I've been to many restaurants in the city and my favorite is Churchill's Pub & Restaurant, you should check it out if you like that sort of food.
