Unhappy Santa now has one less reindeer.

For those keeping tabs this year, Dawn has managed to rack up two kills and an assist with our Dodge Stratus in the past few months. It started with a head on deer hit in which she drove up over top of the deer. In addition to the deer, fatalities included the front bumper cover, wheel well liner, washer bottle, and air dam. Hit number two was a deer running into the side of the car and resulted in a dent that easily popped back out. Condition of deer two is unknown, but it may actually have survived. Last week, while on her way home from work in the dark, she was following a Ford Escape and they both came upon a fallen deer in their lane of travel. Having no where to really go, she simply killed it again and went up over top of this one as well.

Unfortunately, this deer left a little more than hair and broken plastic. She took it just left of center and must have skinned the side of the deer. When she arrived home, she called me again as I was out Christmas shopping and said that the car "really smelled bad". I immediately instructed her to get it out of the garage and to leave it outside for the night. Today, I finally got around to getting the car up in the air to inspect the damage. My stomach churned when I found blood, hair and gore splatted all over the bottom of the car and cooked onto the exhaust. It appears that she literally stripped a layer of subcutaneous fat from the carcass as large chunks of it were jammed into every nook and cranny on the underbody.

How the hell to remove this mess? I really didn't want to wash it down my garage drain as that would then stink up the entire garage. Donning rubber gloves, I attempted to scrub it off with some spray cleaner and paper towels. Unfortunately, the fat was stuck good to the car and held everything fast. I finally decided to get out my heat gun and working one section at a time warmed up the gore until the fat liquified and then quickly wiped it away with a paper towel. I was able to remove about 95% of the mess but it was by far the most disgusting thing I have ever done on a car. Sammie came out while I was working, took one glance and turned green before rushing back into the house. I really hope that Dawn is done hunting now... three deer is enough!

Be glad you got rid of your Fat Boy. I have to think about this every time I get caught in the rain without a fullface helmet.

I would try drive thru car wash that has an under body wash. It may not get all of it but at least it will rinse down the blood and small stuff before you have to get under it and get the big stuff. Plus the left overs won't be in your garage or driveway.

Thank goodness we don't have moose around here. We do get the occasional horse or cow in the road though.

There's an idea! One slightly used Dodge Stratus... automatic, loaded, new brakes, and meat snacks cooking on the exhaust.
