I know SAAB was supposed to be bought by I think Spyker, but Spyker backed out.

So let's see here:

What we have lost:

Oldsmobile
Pontiac
Saturn
SAAB
Hummer

What we have left:

Buick
Chevrolet
Cadillac
GMC

Can we lose any more?

Olds was a redundant boring brand, Hummer was a niche vehicle and they didnt build up Pontiac the way they should have. I think GM really could have done better to make Pontiac and Saturn stay. They should have build up all their hybrid technology through saturn instead of through fucking trucks.

Why they didnt get rid of GMC and Buick is beyond me

I don't think there is one good answer for that. I am still waiting for a legitimate answer. All the Buicks I see on the roads are owned by 80-100 year olds.

koenigsegg should have bought Saab.... that would have been the best thing for saab, go back to a sweed owned car maker.

That's who it was. I keep getting Spyker and Koenigsegg confused. SAAB has some nice cars.

They kept Buick cause they are the top of the line in China the biggest growing auto market. To them getting a Buick is like us getting a Benz. See how lucky we are.

because GMC is the Pontiac of GM trucks. better in many ways supposidly. Buick is the in between from chevy and caddi. better than chevy but not as good as caddi. I agree they should have kept saturn and pontiac.

here is how I would have done it

Trucks(includes suv's) Caddi would be fully loaded super lux
Gmc with some nicer things but not as good as caddi
Chevy bare bones heavy duty work type truck solid front axels ect

cars caddy super lux

buick minor lux

chevy entry lvl to lux ,vette and camaro
pontiac all retro sports cars rear wheel drive with the GTO, and firebird

Saturn the base hybrid tech high fuel econ cars

or something along those lines
