yeah....those are badass. If you weren't impressed it was driver error. Hard for that car not to be impressive.

I wasnt driving, no driver error just nothing crazy imo. Dont get me wrong it was fast, but it really didn't feel fast. Think it was partly due to how smooth the powerband was.

The car going fast and feeling fast are two different things.

True.......one would expect that as its not a large car it would feel faster than it really is.

    Hard top by any chance?

I wanted SO BAD a 2007, Orange, hard top Viper so bad but it was about 5k more than I wanted to spend. Had like 8k miles or something stupid on it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I always pictures a viper being raw power, was much smoother and tamer them I was expecting. maybe I'm just too used to my fbody

I have been in vipers as well and know what you mean. I think it has something to do with those very long gears, I think 2nd gear goes to almost 80mph, like 77 or 78mph. Dodge probably figures with all that trq down low who needs steep gears. I agree though it does make the car feel slower than it is.

exactly. And just like you said, 2nd gear lasted a while. Cool car, just not my style.

The more cylinders you have the smoother the power..

It's da truff tho.. I can recognize..

"I" engines except for 4 bangers tend to be smoother than many if not most "V" engines, as lined up cylinders have better balance characteristics.

Problem is they tend to be hugely long blocks and cams.

The smoothness of inline engines is why you saw 12 and 16 cylinder inline engines in many WW2 aircraft such as fighters.

Though, there were a wide variety of engine types used such as radial, and horizontally opposed cylinder engines as well, the inline engines were the smoothest running.

In "v" type designs, adding more cylinders adds smoothness to their power bands and also adds more favorable characteristics to high rpms and smaller displacements..
