Ricing out 18 wheelers for better fuel economy?

http://www.cnn.com/video/?iref=videoglobal -- Look under "Trucks inspired by race cars" I couldnt get the exact link to work

Ok I get that aero dynamic rigs will get better mpg. It makes sense that two tires on either axle would be better then four.

    But for God's Sake.

Did I really hear this right "Ground effects, spoilers and mudflaps are designed to cut down on drag and save fuel!"

super single tires have been around for a while. All the drivers I ever talked to that ran them hated them because they weren't as stable on slick roads.

do they really think the tire weight is really going to make any relevant difference compared to a 30 ton load?

And secondly, one major benefit of the two wheel system is protection against blow out, one goes, youve got a spare already in place, if one of those bad boys goes, youre in trouble
