Rice vs muscle vs ?
So some guys at work were debating cars so I thought I'd continue it here. The question was, which car would be best and which would you rather drive, a four cylinder fwd, a rwd v8, or some kind of v6? I'm excluding awd for now, sorry. Just as an example, take a Civic SI, 350z, and Fbody. Which one would make the most power? Quarter times? Cost to reach those times? And finally, track times and durability? My thinkin is that the v8 will take the power and quarter trophies. The Civic will take the durability and fun-to-drive crown. And the 350z would take the track times. I respect many cars for different reasons and I know you can make any car do what you want, but I'm asking opinions as there is no right answer to any of my questions.

Personally, I will always pick the rwd 8 - unless it's something rare. Grew up driving them, and have always had at least one. Add a manual on top of it and it doubles the fun. Sounds the best too I think. Not to say I haven't driven some fast and fun fwd or smaller displacement motor cars, they're just not my cup o' tea.

I cant believe a fbody owner is asking this question rwd v8 all day every day my dd is a chevy z71 i dont own anything but v8s. I have owned all kinds of cars but still go back the the old trusty american setup. As for fun I think you left out a great candidate the classic pickup truck I have had more fun in a truck than any other car i have owned and i think it takes the durability thing to a whole new level.

Well the thing about four-bangers is that you can drive the piss out of them without breaking laws too badly. I loved revvin my bird up as I drove around, but you can only accelerate for two seconds before youre speeding. And where I live youd be insane to DD a rwd, so its not an option for me.

RWD V8 all the way (seriously...you came onto a V8 site and asked this question? ), but respect has to be given to certain V6s, imo. I love my DD...2000 S/C 3.8L V6 GTP...awesome car, paid almost nothing for it, and the only problem it's given me in almost two years is a dead battery...and I drive it hard.

I also am going to post it to a tuner forum, was just curious on opinions all around.
As for trucks, I have no idea, never driven one more than a couple hours.

I don't do FWD so it would have to be something RWD or AWD for me.

Yep, RWD V8 is where the action is at. FWD just doesn't feel right. I think that's the reason they're more popular with the younger crowd, because those youngsters haven't yet had the chance to own/drive as RWD V8 so they don't know what they're missing. After my first TA, I looked at an 04 Mustang GT and an 06 Eclipse GT. The Eclipse had near identical numbers but it was FWD, and the test trive convinced me, so I bought the Mustang...

the smaller motors of today have earned respect for sure but there is nothing like the sound and feel of a RWD V8. the 350z is a BEAUTIFUL car for sure but i would much rather have my TA. 330+ TQ and the sound is heaven to me.

FWD is not really that fun to drive. I would love to have RWD or AWD in my dd. My next dd will not be FWD.
