Reverse Osmosis system ?
Ive done some reading but wanted to find some opinions on here.
Do you really need 5 or 7 stage systems? Do you need the UV?
I was looking at a 4 stage watts at costco for $169.99. Then I read about zero waste systems and wasnt sure what to get. Do brands really matter?
I found a 7 stage with UV on ebay for $179.99 plus shipping. Thanks for the input.

I can't elaborate on stages needed but I can tell you I would look at replacement cost of filter cartridges.

It will! We only buy water on vacations now. We stock up on plasic bottels and fill them with our system. Place some half full in freezer for hot days. Lay them at a 45 with the lid loose so you get more ice contact area.

I just use the Pur facet attachment thingy...I had a few Brita ones but they're cheap plastic pieces of shit. The threads are plastic so they strip out all to hell....cheap ass Brita. Fuck them I say!!
But yea, I have the pur stainless steel setup with a stage 3 filter...it's not as good as a built in system but it gets the shit out that'll kill ya.

i too had the pur one which was better than nothing but i eventually got one for under the sink. All you need to do is go to home deopt, they have what you need.. I got the basic ge under the sink filter with a one stage filter. They sell a 2 stage filter that removes a bit more crap and they also have the reverse osmosis system that goes under the sink for 160. Up to you what you want to get. The single stage ge unit i bought (50 bucks) was well worth it and removes the nasty ass taste/smell from my water (basically chlorine taste)

ha, for me it has nothing to do with there might be stuff in the water and more to do with the chlorine smell/taste of my tap water. I have no problem with drinking tap water just that when i moved to my condo the chlorine smell is so strong it smells/tastes like pool water, you can smell it when your just filling your glass its that strong. The simple one stage filter removes is. I do still drink tap water here when im in the bathroom but you can definately tell the difference.

Ok not sure what mine is considered so I took a couple pics for you. The regular filters are around $30 for mine and there is 3 we replace every 2 1/2-3 years. Then there is one expensive filter that they say to replace every 10 years which is coming up. I found it for $70-90. I really like the taste of the water it produces. We usually get comments from people asking what kind of water we buy when we have BBQ's/cookout's at the house. The only thing I might change when I do that other filter this year is add another air/water tank.
It depends on how much water you use a day or how many kids you have. When we have alot of people over we tend to loss alot of pressure to where the water barely comes out. I have got into the habit of having a large pitcher in the fridge that I try to fill every night before crashing.
There is another small filter above the one you see in this pic. I couldn't get a focused shot of them all under the sink.........
The ones that go on your faucet are like putting a band-aid with duck tape instead of getting stitches.
