I hate 98% of the remakes lately but I have to say that the Total Recall is an exception to the rule for me. 2 different movies. Same them, but very different and so much better.

Watch Red Dawn, play the game Homefront (stories written by the same guy), then compare to current events and become paranoid.

Homefront game was ok to play but it was a short game. Seemed like it needed more.

Red Dawn scared the daylights out of me when I was a kid thanks to my parents telling me how real it could become. Looking forward to this one.

i'll see it eventually...but the original was already great...why try to reinvent what already worked?

You want to know what prevents this scenario from becoming reality.

Civies in this country have more firearms then anywhere else.

Something I saw a while back...

The world's largest army... America 's hunters! I had never thought about this...

A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin.
Allow me to restate that number:600,000

Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.
More men under arms than in Iran. More than France and Germany combined.
These men deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan's 700,000 hunters,
all of whom have now returned home safely.

Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone
would comprise the largest army in the world. And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states. It's millions more.

    The point?
America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower .

Hunting... it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.

That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

Food for thought, when next we consider gun control.

Although I think the comment about the largest army in the world is inaccurate.

China currently has an army of around 7 million, but a potential conscript base of around half a Billion. In wartime, they could conceivably field an army larger than the entire US population.

Edit: After watching the trailer, just wondering why the guy didn't just use mjolnir.

I've seen that artical too. A major thing they either did not know or left off is that not all of their army is properly outfitted (weapons) or trained. Their A- C level units are comparible to our Active Duty - State Guard units, while their D - F units may have some weapons and training at the officer & non comm level the conscrips are design to help overwelm their enemy and while the battle continues to scavage off the dead, wounded, & prisoners (if they capture/let live) any weapons they can use. They are also very expendable. China is not above such tactics.

Yea i'm glad we don't share borders with them. They have the bodies but they don't have any where near the resources to field such an army from half way around the world. Still makes for a good movie though.
