Radar Dectectors, Whos got'em?
And what works, I hear 3 things
I hear the Escort 8500 is the best thing going, also the Beltronics Rx65. The valentine is outdated. Thats what I've heard. I'm really feelin the Escort 8500 but the fact that Valentine will upgrade your shit seems really nice too.
I am looking for the best thing out there, I don't want some cheap ass whistler POS, so if you have one of the products mentioned above lets hear what ya think about it

i have a decent one, worth probably about $110. its one of the cobra models, not sure the exact one, but its saved me on more than one occasion. i love it and will always have a radar with me when im driving. when i get enough money and a faster car though, im gonna invest in a V1 for sure

The bel rx65 65 is better than the 8500, but not by much. They are made by the same company. Also you can upgrade any of the detectors I mentioned in my first post, nice suprise there. And I heard there is a new Escort coming out called the 8500x50 or the 85000x50. Its one of those, Its hard forking out the bank for such expensive equipment, But buying some cheap POS is false security and thats somthing I can live without

NBM- 2000 Vette
I already have the Valentine, and I bought my son the Escort 8500 x50 the Christmas before. We were in Steamboat at the time, had both of them in the window. Ran into a radar on the way home, the Valentine picked it up maybe a second before the Escort. Either one is pretty good!

Red- 2000 WS6
I have two V1s. One in my WS6 and another in my truck. I've used many, to include the others you mentioned, and V1s are the best (IMO). If I were offered one of the others for free, but had to pay to get a V1... I'd get the V1.
BTW, they're only outdated if you have an old one and haven't upgraded it. And... they don't need upgrading that often.

I bought my V1 from a friend for like $100 but I bet it was stolen. The thing looked brand new and I asked him about updating it because I've heard that is what you need to do but he told me that it doesn't need it. It has worked wonders for me in the past but I'm not sure if it needs to be updated or not. Either that or maybe none of the cops in town have their radar guns on anymore because it never picks up radar when I pass them in town. I'm thinking about buying a new one (V1, Escort 8500, etc.) because I'd much rather spend $400+ than have those damn flashing lights behind me. That is one of the worst feelings in the world.

Black- 1998 Camaro Z28
V1 for me since I bought my Z28 in 1998. I havent upgraded b/c I didn't know I could until today. Thanks for posting this thread. Says on their website that I can upgrade, so I'll polly do it soon. It has saved me at least a couple dozen tix on my 98 Z28. I wouldn't use anything else, but that's just me.

It's my understanding that radartest.com is funded by bel/passport and escort... which is why they alway underrate the V1. One of the car mags... Car and Driver do a comparison every few years or so Valentine V1 blows them all away everytime by a large margin. The only thing outdated about the V1 is how the unit looks. I run a Bel and a V1 in different cars and am happy with both. But, the V1 with the bogey counter and the locator arrows is just awesome.

As far as the bogey counter goes, the escort 8500 not only tells you how many bogeys, but it tells you the individual strength of them all.

I've got an Escort 8500 and my brother has a Valentine 1, both are super sweet but my 8500 has a little better range. We both have T/As and have been driving side by side when hit with radar (KA) and mine alerts me first....
