Racism in TX?

So, I'm thinking about moving down to TX once I get out of the military, but I have been warned by some native Texans that my stepson might have a hard time down there (Austin area, possibly DFW) due to his ethnicity.

Anyone here live in or from TX that can elaborate on this?

I've never seen it. Like anywhere else you will have closet racist. Most outwardly racist folks down here are black. They hate everybody.

Happens anywhere u go. Most of my best friends are different ethnicitys (comes with working it). Mostly just older folks who are too late in life to change nowadays, but they're dying off.

i never had a problem when i was growing up and im only 20 and im of the brown color. not hispanic

id say the minorities are no longer minorities, especially in texas. There ARE small towns that still stand by their racist heritage (vidor, north zulch, ect.) but for the most part, everyone gets along i guess.....

stay away from the small towns where he'll be the only one of 100 kids in the 9-12 highschool who arent white, not because of an immediate KKK threat, but just because some parents are intolerant behind closed doors and wont want their kid hanging out with the 'different' kid.

experience here if you can't tell, I'm from a small rural town and saw things..

Yea Texans are racist, they hate librals. Actually I see more racisim in NJ and NY that I have in my entire life in the south. It is amazing how we let it go yet people up here won't

Coming from a highschooler in texas, in the DFW area..

He shouldn't have problems, If anything, there are usually just a group of "texans" that give everybody problems, but its not just toward one person, no matter the race.

around here its less about race, and more about attitude and morals.

the reason most black feel prosecuted is because we are tired of junky neighborhoods, people who wont get jobs, scam the system, always want things for free.

its not a race thing, whites, blacks, mexicans, everyone is guilty, blacks just tend to be the most prevelant.

Don't be a thug, get a job, say please and thank you.....and your color wont matter.
