R.I.P. Calvin Harrison, Hometown Hero
Sad to have just heard that a guy i used to hang out with back in high school was killed in Afghanistan today. When I first met the guy in 9th grade, we didn't get along at all. Eventually, he suggested we bury the hatchet. We hung out here and there and used to cut up in class. He was from the rough part of our little town, so after he quit school, I assumed he had just lived like most of the other young guys from his neighborhood. Ya know, drugs, robberies, things of that sort. I never knew what happened to him until tonight. Unfortunately, It was in his death that I learned that he got out and did something with his life and joined our fine U.S. Army. I always hear about soldiers giving their lives for our country, but when it's someone you know or knew, it makes a big impact on your outlook. Thank you soldiers for doin what you do.
R.I.P. Calvin Harrison... May god bless your soul.

It's always a shame when our soldiers die in duty. It adds something that this was a youth from a troubled neighborhood who perhaps chose enlistment as a better life path than what may have otherwise been available to him at home, and found this sad but noble end.
