    Quitting smoking (again)

I'm about to stop smoking again for the 50th time. I'm thinking of picking up some of those patch things. Anyone try those before? I tried the gum before but that shit tastes like the inside of a trucker's asshole so i figured I'd try something new.

I quit with the patch once - lasted about 4 months. I recently tried Chantix but it just made me sick. They say keep trying eventually you'll get it right. Good luck - I will be trying once again myself soon in a few weeks.

Hope it works for you. I quit cold turkey back in Aug 05 after 35 years of smoking. I still jones for a smoke at least once a day but have resisted all temptation. It's all about will power.

Don't worry about quiting smoking because smoking has a way of taking care of that all on its own.

Yup. Smoking killed both my Grandpa's. One at 100 and the other at 97.

I found none of those to work! What I did get to work for myself was putting back that money EVERY day that I would normally spend on smokes and @ the end of the week realizing how much more nitrous a week I could get.
Also if you keep your fingers bust helps. I did sunflower seeds and had 2 different style exercise tools that you grip and squeeze.
Smoked from 13 until 25 NO MORE!!

I quit 10 years ago but i have to admit i had no choice in the matter.I don't even give it a thought now,i think the best way to quit is cold turkey and BE SURE your mind is set like that 1st piece of azz you wanted sure. Then it will be easy, after two weeks you will forget all about it and start to smell food again etc pussy etc .....lol

I quit cold turkey and it worked fine,i made up my mind at the same time that although i enjoyed smoking that was in my past and in the future i;m a nonsmoker. That helped alot.DO NOT SLIP UP! one cig and you will be hooked worse than before. Its like people who have a weight problem, every time they diet afterwards they gain way more than lost. Its all in yer head..........remember that.

I agree with the cold turkey method. You just have to decide you are really done and stick with it. It is all in your mind-like already said above. Dont even bother with patches or gum its all bs. Good luck.

agreed, the only people i know that quit smoking and really quit, where it stuck all quit cold turkey. They really wanted to, or had to, and jus stopped on their own. No crutches ie the patch and gum, they don't work. My friend pisses his money away on the patch, and the gum and shit and it never works. He's been claiming he's quitting smoking since i've known him. Thats about 10 yrs now. Its to the point now where I don't even listen to him when he mentions it, its beyond annoying, I don't even believe him anymore. His main problem is he's an alcoholic though, and most people smoke and drink at the same time.

O I forgot to mention- I smoked 15 years and quit cold turkey and now I cant stand cigarette smoke. Yeah Stanger no doubt drinking goes hand in hand with smoking. I quit drinking after my second dui years ago so that helped when I quit smoking.

    nobody likes a quitter.

Good luck. I quit 4 years ago. I tried the patch but had troubles keeping it lit.

I did the patch for a while then just quit. I quit for about 3-4 months and went turkey hunting one weekend. After we finished hunting ( can only hunt 'til noon) we drank some beer and I went and bought a pack of smokes and said screw it. I smoked that entire pack that night after not having one for months. I woke up the next day and felt like a horse had kicked me in the chest. Haven't touched one since and never even think about them anymore. People smoking around me doesn't bother me at all. Just reminds me how glad I am that I'm not hooked anymore.
