Question for YZF R6 owners - What's your mpg?

$225 a month on gas to go back and forth to work in my car is getting OLD...FAST.

I had a brand new 2001 YZF R6 for about 8 months and had to sell it when I found out I had a baby on the way. I'm contemplating getting one again because the gas mileage HAS to be better than what I'm getting now. Of course, this wasn't a concern of mine when I had my first one...

Anyway, for those of you with an R6, what kind of gas mileage do you get?

I'm half tempted to buy a moped if I can't get a new bike with somewhat decent gas mileage....80mpg is very attractive when gas costs $3/gal

I've got a Honda VFR 750cc and I get about 45mpg, with an R6 which is a 600cc bike you'll do better...if you stay off the throttle. I ride my bike almost exclusively and the Formula I drive only when the weather is really bad, I have groceries to bring home or I'm on a date...otherwise I'm on the bike.

Why not ask at www.r6-forums.com? I get about 35 mpg, driving agressively. I never figured out the mileage for my 6r. Gas was cheaper back then, and I didn't care that much. I think it was like 2xx miles to the tank.

You never tried to take a date out on the bike? I usually don't do it on the first date, unless she asks for it but after I've known her a while, we usually go riding together. Then again, some girls are scared and refuse to go for a ride on it, like my current girl... I'm thinking about splitting up with her.

Yes , but yours is a sport /tourer. A R6 is a race replica bike..

That doesn't matter...even a Toyota Corolla will get bad milage if you don't stay off the gas. My brother has a CBR 600RR and he gets better milage than I get on my bike....when he stays off the throttle.
