question about car insurance wreck claim

I have State Farm Insurance. Wrecked my car and they came out did the damage estimate and they are going to have to replace 2 wheels on my 01 SS at the cost of $1,150. But I was thinking for that much money I could get an entire set of some chrome rims and have money left over. I am going to call them Monday and ask if I can pick out a set of rims instread of getting the factory ones replaced. My question is can they do that ? Anybody had a similiar case where you wanted a different part other than factory ? Maybe someone who works with car insurance can provide some input.

I had a cowl hood put on a mustang when i made an insurance claim. I just had to work it out with the body shop I was working with.

my friend had stock 16" rims on his formula when 3 got trached in an accident. He got a certain amount for the rims, threw in a few hundred extra and now has new 18" C6 chromes.

Yeah, they can do that. Just let the adjuster know that's what you'd like to do. The insurance field is generally filled with extortion and crooks, but the adjuster guys are usually pretty cool and will work with what you want to do as long as it won't cost them any more than it normally would.
