Black on Black- 2001 Camaro SS
The F-bodys are defiently higher. Insurance companys frown when they hear a 17 year old wanting an Camaro/ Trans Am. Look at it like this High performance vs. grocery getter.

383 w/Meth & ProCharger- 2001 Camaro Z28
Honda's are in the top 5 stolen cars list across the nation, so they're aren't necessarily cheap to insure for that reason. I think it will be fairly close between that and a performance car. You'll have to get the quotes to find out.

the reason I'm asking is because I'm only 17 so I can't get a car loan myself yet, but for now my dad can buy me a car and pay for the insurance. I gave him a small list of cars to look out for, but he's not too happy about a camaro/trans am. He thinks that the insurance cost will be less for the civic, but at a second thought I'm not sure because a lot of them hondas are mad tyte and drftin an shiet and losing control. He asked me why do I need 8 cylinders for, it's just going to burn gas (even though I have to pay for gas with money out of my own pocket.) I don't what should I do because for me to get to work takes about 16 miles one way, and I'm trying to save my $$ for something else at the moment, so no, mods for the civic is not my plan. He never said anything about me driving it like a dumbass because I can control myself and I don't get sudden urges, it's just this car is going to be more expensive, but it's a beast I don't know what I'm going to do yet.

Trans Am/Camaro actually gets better gas mileage (Stock) then the Civic Si.
Civic Si is quick for what it is, but is a cheap car, loud road noise, and handles sub par. Also eats gas.
FBody if driven normally gets better gas mileage, is sportier, roomier, and is a v8 and demands respect from alot of other cars....
downside to the fbody, once you begin modding, you wont stop, and the amount of poontang you get, may cause premature heart failure.
IMHO The Civic Si is a girls car....

If you're looking for a car that has really cheap insurance, make it meet these points:
-Domestic
-4 doors
-4 cylinder engine
-A minivan
Lighter cars(smaller, like the civic, focus, etc) have the highest death rates among teens, the insurers look at this so heavier cars(larger, four door cars or minivans) are much cheaper. I know a minivan isn't 'cool' like an F-body or even a civic, but I drove one for almost 2 years before I got my Iroc.

The gas mileage isn't that different, especially the highway mileage, and you would probably expect lower gas mileage if you're a teenager anyway.

BlackCherry- Bad Ass 67 Camaro / 2010
If your pops is asking why you need the 8 cylinders, then you better look for a 4 banger. You dad has no idea about muscle cars.
Bet he drives a Volvo.
