Quest for my next car...
Drove a new STi Limited last week. Fun toy, but too cheap inside to be a DD. It's not $40k worth of car IMO. I drove the S4, S5, CTS-V & GT-R yesterday.
The S5 is out. Compared to the S4, driving it is no fun. It is very obvious that is is bigger & heavier than the S4. Both the S4 & S5 had manual trans. I really had a lot of fun driving the S4. The S4 is so much more nimble. The exhaust note of the S5 is pure sex, though. However, dealers want more than a V to lease one.
I also drove a new CTS-V sedan w/auto trans. No Recaros either. The standard seats offer zero support. Recaros are a must have. The car handled great, but did not feel like an 11 second car. It's also begging for aftermarket exhaust IMO. The ride was great. I really like the new Opulent Blue color.
Last was a GT-R. The gears are SHORT. Obviously to keep the turbos spooled. The car I drove had wheels & exhaust. What a beast. Handled like it was on rails. Interior quality is lacking, but not enough for me to say I don't want the car. The price tag says I don't want it, though. My lady preferred the GT-R. So much so that after I told her I can't justify spending that kind of $ on a car, she offered to help w/the payments. LOL Before the flames start, I can afford it on my own. If I had $ to piss away, I'd buy a GT-R to daily drive & a 911T as a toy.
I was disappointed w/the V. I expected to feel the power a lot more. If the S4 was in the $700 a month area, I might have to jump on it. However, nothing made me want to buy today. with that said, I would buy the V over the S4.
I'm, most likely, going to wait till Spring/Summer of 2012 to make a move unless my 335xi sells before then. Then when Spring rolls around, strongly consider picking up a beater 4x4 or something & getting a C6 to play with. Of course, if I find the right beater between now & then, I'd buy it.

I couldnt do the GT-R just because of the simple fact its as fast as it is with ZERO driver input. Now I am speaking of the launch control and nothing more but still.....its no longer a driver and his car vs another driver and his car. Its your car and thats its, no drive input.
If I was going to spend 40+k on another car (plan to next year to treat myself) only two cars come in to mind. Viper and C6 Z06. Whatever you get just make sure YOU are happy and no one else. F^ck everyone else. lol

How much is said GT-R?
$1,200 at 72 months = $86,400
$1,200 at 60 months = $72,000
$1,200 at 48 months = $57,600
Last sticker price I looked at on a new GT-R was just under 90k. Either you are getting a used one or paying for 84 months. lol I sure hope its not the 84 month payment plan.

I hear you. I have yet to purchase a brand new car. I might have to next year though....lol For some reason I have a hard on for a new regular cab, short box, 5.3 liter, and the 3.42 rear.....unless I need to drive a LONG way to work and I will opt for the 3.08 rear.
I sure as shit wouldnt lease a vehicle either, more especially a $1,200 a month lease.
