Was originally intended as a prequel to Ridley Scott's Alien, but Scott decided to turn it into an original film with Noomi Rapace (who was already set to star in the prequel) still in the cast as one of five main characters. Some time later however it was confirmed that while the movie will take place in the same universe as Alien, and greatly reference that movie, it will, for the bigger part, be an original movie and not a direct prequel. Yeah that's what this is about... It's a prequel to Alien, and from what I've read nobody is really sure yet if it's going to be about the xenomorphs or something else, like about the giant humanoids seen on the ship in Alien...

ok you added a bit more while I was typing that... so they're saying not a direct prequel, but I seem to recall seeing an alien egg in one of the trailers, so who knows... they are really keeping it a mystery...

I believe it's going to be more about another race. If you watch Alien again, pay attention to the giant head (face) the crew encounters while exploring the the alien planet. On the giant body, Dallas (I believe) makes mention of the hole that looks like one that a Xenomorph makes when it bursts from the chest.

Yea I didn't really draw any line between the two, other than the androids but they seem to be different in each movie

Exactly... The androids in Alien have white blood/fluid so that's easy enough to test for. Wouldn't need the psych-evals that they use in Blade Runner. Unless Blade Runner is even farther in the future and androids have been further perfected...

I'm not sure either. Blade Runner is based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. The only connection I can tell at this point is that they're both directed by Ridley Scott and have a sci-fi futuristic setting.

Blade Runner is in 2019? That's funny. I love when we catch up to the futures in movies... Like in 3 years it'll be the future in Back to the Future... 7 years to Blade Runner... and we ain't got any of the things that either movie showed us

No flying cars, no pleasuredroids... though the Japanese are working on that second one...
