    Probable Cause?

I decided to go out today and wash my car, take the t-tops off and enjoy what is probably the best day of the year so far here in Denver. As I'm driving along, I see a cop on his motorcycle turn on his lights. I quickly look down at my speedometer and I think I'm safe because I'm doing 1 under the limit. Well that cop keeps following me so I pull over. He gets off his bike and tells me his name and all that other carp then tells me why he's pulling me over....my front license plate is covered by the Firebird cover plate. Now the car has been driven for 7 years between my dad and I and not once have either of us been pulled over for this.

Then the cop instructs me roll up my windows so he can check the tint. Why would he do this? because i have my back window tinted at 15%? According to the state law, you can have the back tinted as dark as you want, therefore how would he know that I have my windows tinted? I'm not seeing probable cause in any of this. Needless to say I'm fairly p*ssed off and now I have a $75 ticket to pay for petty BS things.

Maybe if I go to court, I'll bring some Extendz and some Viagra so that cop won't have to worry about "size" anymore and can finally stand like a man. Or perhaps I'll murder his family and then he can solve a crime instead of pulling over a college student to try and get $75 of his hard earned money.

So, my question is, how many of you have been pulled over for your front license plate cover or for tint? And how did you fight it? If I go to court to fight it, I'd have to peel off the tint and remove the cover and still pay $25 in court costs. But I'm not going to peel off the tint because quite frankly, I drove all winter with my windows up and the tint on and nobody cared so I'll still end up paying $75 in court regardless.

Been stopped several times for lack of front plate.
I have also paid tint tickets (out of state) rather than peel it off.

I got pulled for bull shiii like that. No front lic. plate, tinted windows. I got some zip-ties and put the plate around the front grill and was going to dispute the tint but cop never bothered to show up. Case dismissed. He just wanted to fack up my day. Hope he'll only do that with you as well.

havn't been pulled over once on the 2 years I've had my car......no front plate and no muffler and no pollution control system.

Just lucky I guess? Its not my DD, and I'm careful about where I speed.

off his bike....sorry, I'm fairly angry right now and cops on bike's don't really stay in my memory. Where do they keep their donuts and coffee?
Honestly though, with my windows down and everything where did he get it that my windows were tinted. Maybe I should tint my back at like 5%, and leave my windows clear glass. then when the pig pulls me over, I can just sit back and laugh at his fat, donut eating a**.

Back in the day, I had my car tinted Five Percent all around (minus windshield). Within the first week I got a $75 ticket for the tint. I thought "OK, fine just wrong place at the wrong time" Type deal. So I paid the ticket and went on. A little over a week later I got another $75 ticket from the same cop. He even remembered me all. So BAM Down another $75. After that I decided to have the tint taken off.

Sucks cuz I love the way the car looks so much with it black out and all. Oh and I couldn't tell you how many front plate tickets I've got. I'll never put the plate on though cuz it just looks so horrendous on LS1 T/A's.

having your roll up your windows to check to see if it was legal, is kinda strange.. (unless they were up when he saw you) which is unlikely with the ttops out. Most people keep windows down with t-tops out.

What's next have you pop up you head lights to make sure they aren't burnt out, or use each turn signal to make sure they work?

Why not do a full cavity search because he thinks you have drugs tucked up in your pooper?

    WTF?

I am usually one to just say pay the ticket and move on. But this story urks me just a bit.

Definitely. Tints just set these cars off. Gotta love Pa for not needing a front plate

Even when i almost got charged with evading/ eluding with 3 cops and sargent dickhead bitching at me my tints never came up

Good point. Thats like refusing a request for a search of your car but having to pop the trunk so a cop could try and happen to see something; allowing a search.

That's what I thought too. Honestly, what would he have done if I refused to roll up my windows? Take me to jail? Fine me for something else that's petty? Maybe I'll get one of those clear license plate covers, put on the firebird decals and install some lights behind it to light it up at night.....or I'll just stick to the original cover and hope some dick cop doesn't pull me over again.

Never been bugged about it in Colorado.

Grand Am is 5% all the way around and the T/A is 5% back and 20% sides.

Freakin' college students- all they do is sleep all day, and party all night. What a life! Why don't you get a real job?

There, you like being lumped into some group, like "cops" and donuts? Feels pretty crappy, huh?

You know the laws, but are too much of a 'tough guy' to be bothered to obey them. Now you get to whine about how it isn't fair, and why are they picking on me? Man up- you chose your actions, now pay the piper- Don't complain because some guy is doing what he is supposed to do, traffic enforcement- maybe someday, if you are lucky, you will have a job and a boss, too-

MY WINDOWS WERE ROLLED DOWN THE ENTIRE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he decided that his time wasn't worth just the $25 ticket for the license plate cover, he had to find something else. And finally, it was my father who installed the tint and the license plate cover on the car. I bought the car from him with my JOB. Is it because I'm 19 years old and driving a decent car that this guy decides to pull me over. Why did my dad never get a ticket for any of it? Because he's in his 40's? Makes sense.

Cop bashing isn't allowed here as far as I know. I'm going to laugh the first time someone beats your ass or steals your car...the first thing you'll do is pick up your cellphone and cry for help. There's cops that post on this site...the shit you're saying isn't needed.

And those tickets you got are fix it tickets so there's nothing to fight. You either pay the tickets or have the plate/tint fixed and have any cop sign them off. So put the plate on and strip the tint...

    agreed.
That's just a part of modding a car. If you run loud exhaust, no front plate, tinted windows, and things like that you can't complain when you get busted for it. I run a front plate on my bird and don't have tint just for those exact reasons. What I do have is some loud ass exhaust on a heads/cam car. It's only a matter of time before I get pulled over...... I know that going in but I don't have tint and run my front plate to draw a little less attention to myself. When I do get pulled over I'll pay the fines and keep my mouth shut because I know right now that I'm illegal. It won't be a surprise.
As for him having you roll up your windows to check tint, he might've just had a hard on for you but as a policeman he has every right to safety inspect your car. I'd say 99% of the police out there probably wouldn't hassle you over things like that but there is still that 1% floating around that will and they have that right....it's their job.

I don't think the light hearted stereotype of equating cops to donut/coffee consumers would mean he is cop bashing??

I'm in the Air Force- We often get called the "Chair Force"-- I don't consider that someone bashing my profession, just a little humor based loosely on truth.

We do in fact have several jobs that run control centers, and "fly desks" -- Not all of us, but a lot of us do" If you say "Chair Force" I don't think you are bashing me.

After all-- who is the Army calling to flyover and put bombs on targets?

Just like the Cops respond to 911 calls.

    People are so sensitive.
