    Question Prison/Jail gaurds in here!!!

I'm 18 yrs. old and fixing to graduate high school in May. I live in East Texas. I was wondering how much of a chance I would have of getting on with a jail or prison just being eighteen? Also, post how often you get into fights and how old you were when you started working there. I'll also be going to a junior college at night for a bachealors degree in CJ.

    Thanks, BIGG JOE

I worked in a State Prison here in ga when I was 25, but they hired a lot of young guys traight outta school. The fights where not regular, but they happen. Not the safest job I have ever had. There is a lot of dangers of being shanked (stabbed) or whatever else. They can throw blood, piss,a nd shit at you. That is a totally different world in there. I left when your prison turned into a womens prison. I didn't want to have to deal with that. Good job working for the state. Good luck.

I was 18 when i started at a parole violation facility. They stay no longer than a year. The main thing you have to worry about is, 1. Them trying to get inside your ehad and gettng you fired or to quit. 2. You not following the rules, after all it usually not the prisoners you have to worry about its the staff. 3.Families in there can and will have friends beat your ass in the outside world if you fuck with alot of them to hard.

I learned the tricks of the trade then moved onto a 10 year prison. It is a good job, but i could not make a career out of it since i found there is more of a headache with staff than the prisoners like female staff fucking inmates, gay staff doing the same, people bringing in drugs for them. You do have to fight some of the inmates on a use of force, but aslong as you hold your ground and do not let yourself get into a place where hey an jump you, and fill out the paperwork afterwards properly you will be okay.

Somone has to do it. The rapist and killers you see on T.V go somewhere and when they are off camera are not so clean and calm. It is not that bad of a job once you learn how to move in it.

He will not be moving very violent offenders his first 3 months there usually. He will just do bullshit jobs like watching a tank, or being a gopher. Chowhall and rec are where alot of shit happens, but usually officers who know what they are doing are sent to those areas. Fights ive seen are never loud, hell if you did not turn to see it or hear a body thud you would never know it happened.

He wont have a huge problem unless he wants to be a robocop and talk shit.

Do not get me started. Women are way worse then men, and the smell of thier tanks burned my nose. Men enjoy things like microwaves, and T.V so if one in the tank acts a fool and gets a threat to have those taken away other men will shut him down fats. Women will use the microwave to burn you with hot water, or lt a rogue bitch ruin it for all of them.

In Cali you first need to be 21yrs old to be elgible to be sworn in as a peace officer. The job used to be fun, great aggression release! Prisoner rights have escalated to where they are basically running their own. The oversight of prisons and all lock-up facilities has basically given the incarcerated all the tools for non compliance. Most places here inmates are attacking guards at an alarming rate. Fortunately lives haven't been lost,YET. The current trend seems to be leading towards such a trajedy. Not to scare you but to give you the truth. The pay is good but for some not all money is good money.Just my .02.

I worked in a federal unit for 5 years i saw alot of fucked up shit. Also u have to know who u can trust in case of a fight make sure they will back u up and not run like a little bitch when shit hit the fan.I started when i was 19 worked w/ a lot of young people and not everybody is cut out for a job like this. My advise to u is that its a mine game. the prisoners dont have nothing better to do but to think about how to fuck w/ guards. Dont get me wrong it was cool sometimes but some of these prisoner dont have nothing to lose they have 4 life sentences what another life sentence if they kill a guard or another inmate.Im no longer in that field got out cause it a stressful job. I would come home w/ my head pounding cause all the shit u have to put up w/ but i was also a supervior extra stress. If that what u like give it a shot.

I didn't like working there. I started out at a level two facility. The people there are serving 20 yrs or less. I also worked at a level four facility. This is where you get the life sentences and all that. I found the higher facility to be better to work at. There was less BS and if you showed the immates respect with out letting them walk on you, you didn't have any problems. Don't act like a badass and they won't prove you wrong. The lower facility has a lot more BS. The rules are real petty and the staff seemed like they thought the where real tough

It sucks when u first start, no one respects you, staff fucks with you, you will usually get shitty posts, like escorting lines, strip searching inmates all day or usually just a float. until you prove ur not a idiot, or until they hire more staff. After time you will get a five day assignment. As for being boring, i used to work at a maximum security prison that there was always something happening so we would always be on lockdown, which means alot more work for the officers. Now i am at a medium security prison, which is totally different. I always say you can do as much or as little work as you want. Everyone is always asking what it is like, i just tell them you cant forget where you are, some inmates try to be your friend, to try to get shit, you just have to be able to stay level headed and see through the bullshit. Show respect get respect. Its usually always the hardass's that get fucked up, or assulted. Comming up on five years iv seen alot of shit....

For one if you get a degree in criminal justice. You have to ask yourself what will you do with it?
Are you ever going to be a lawyer?
The age is based on each state qualifications. For example for Florida Highway Patrol I am almost certain you can be 19yoa. Again it is based on what the state qualifications are.

    Good luck to you.

Im 6'7 270. The body does not matter much unless you are in a one on one fight and that rarley happens. Most of the inmates have nothing to do but fight and workout all day so its hard to keep up with them. Dude its not going to be fun the first couple of months you have alot to learn the whole time.

Once you make rank, or get alot of respect from inmates you will enjoy the fuck out of it.
