The price of gas & the Alaskan pipeline
Would someone please explain to me why shutting down the Alaskan pipeline would cause the price of gas to spike? It's my understanding that most of the oil from Alaska is exported anyway. WTF is up with that?

I think we need to organize some sort of a militia and track down these oil company CEO's, kill them and force them to drop the oil prices. Kinda like we do to a communist country, go in and knock out the government to install a democracy. This is BS though, any damn excuse they get to raise prices and fuck the little man...

They need a reason to raise prices? Hell, I thought they only raised the price on days that the sun came up in the east.

unfortunately the people of our society are greedy and ignorant. The only way to hurt the oil companies would be to stop driving and our society is too high and mighty to do that.
until people stop buying gas and driving their cars everywhere they go the prices will continue to increase. Use less of it the supply goes up and the prices come down.

Here in Denver, there is absolutely no choice but to drive to get anything done during a day. Unlike most cities I visit overseas, we have basically no other way....the bus system blows, we have no real train system, and it may take you 2-3 hours to get a taxi; which will cost you $60.00 for a 15 mile trip. Bottom line is that we have no other choice here...not sure about other cities, but if we don't drive, we don't work/shop/live.

The only other posible thing it could be is the input shaft on teh tranny............if thats teh case i gotta take out some vacation time to put it back to stock and bring it back to the dealer for the "warranty" hehehehe!!!

What's interesting is once it was announced that they were shutting it down and didn't know for how long. Our gov Frank Taxcowski, as we call him, started pushing his plan for the LNG pipe line. Which is the worst deal for Alaska. He wants the oil companies to have complete control of it. Alaska's oil provides between 6 to 10% of the oil for the lower 48 states. This isn't the first time its been turned off, they pipeline has been turned off twice before.

I almost for got, the oil companies will probably still make record profits!
This also means that my yearly dividend from the oil pipeline will end up being less!
