    Posting bail

Just something I've always wondered, when someone posts bail for someone do they get the money back? I was always under the impression that you got the money back, but someone told me that you don't. I'm not in any type of situation or anything, just wondering.

If you pay money to the court, the money is kept to make sure you go to court on all your court dates. When you do, you get your money back.

I had someone pay my bail and you don't get that back. If you post bond as in use land you get that released when you show up. That is how it worked with me.

A Bail Bondsman will take a smaller payment and post bail for you. We had to bail out a buddy of mine for MIP. It cost him (I think) $50 to go through the bondsman. That money was gone. He could have posted bail himself (like $500) and would have got it back when he went to court.

You guys aren't serious about this, right? Pay in full and get your money back when all is said and done. Pay a bondsman 10% of the amount and put up your house against the balance and if the guy shows up in court when he should they don't take the rest out of your house.

This is correct. Bail is simply a monetary incentive to make sure that one shows up in court. If you don't show up for court, you lose the $ put up for bail and have another warrant issued for your arrest for FTA.
