    Porche driver...

This morning on my way home from work, I was in a double turn lane on the inside with an older red porche convertible (carrera maybe?). Anyway, as the light changed, it seemed like he kinda got on it a bit. I had the inside lane so it was pointless to really get on it, but we got stuck at the next light side by side. I took off pretty normal, and I couldn't tell for sure but it seemed like he was really in it. He took off pretty quickly, so I just hit the gas and suddenly he backed out of it. What's up with that? This was all less than 40mph.

Kinda disappointed, I wanted to see what it really had.

My dad has an '89 911. It puts out like 220HP or something like that. They're light, but 220HP is slow. I think he said it's supposed to run mid 14's. He won't take it to the track to find out because "it wasn't made for that" (i.o.w., "I don't want to lose").

Never tangled with a 911, but the Boxters are no match for the LS1. I've had fun with a couple of those.

Yep, just last week I was lined up with a Boxter and he wouldn't go. What a pussy, I said to myself. Losing to a car that cost $30,000 less is a bummer though.

My neighbor, a few houses down has a older 928 that in real good shape. His 16 year old keeps tellin my 16 year old that it will beat me in the 1/4. Does anyone know what these cars are capable of ? I told my son to tell his son "I'll kill him"

If it ain't heavily modified (i.e. forced induction or motor swap), You could be napping on the starting line and smoke him.

I remember the 924 being an entry level POS, but I thought the 928 was a better and faster car. I'll certainly run him, that goes without saying. But I never see Porches at the track.

And the 928s were a little stouter in HP, over 300. But you should still have no problem, if they would go to the track.

Actually, I ended up getting the car significantly before I "left". It's doin' pretty good so far. Check the sig.

Oh, and per this site the best time for a 928 is a 1987 Porsche 928 S4, which ran a 13.9. The rest were 14's and up.
