Get it. Beautiful car. Lots of room and power. I couldn't find a V8 when I was car shopping and got the Trans Am instead.

my favorite 4 door car ever made period. late model G6s had rampant reliablity issues not just limited to the motor, so I'm not sure if that carried over to the G8.

They are very well built cars, and the LS2 is a reliable motor (like any Gen III/IV motor.

Personally, I would not get red, nor would I get the automatic.

I thought only the GXP came with manual? I could be wrong.

    Nothing wrong...like I said, it's a personal preference.

Again, in my opinion, if you're buying it for her, buy her a manual and make her learn. V8 cars are the easiest to lean on, because they're hard to stall due to the amount of torque.

No where did I say they were faster than an auto...I have a stick, cause it makes the driving experience more fun. My DD is an auto and it really isn't as much to drive as a manual.

Theyre nice but like camino said id get the gxp. I think the gxp comes with the ls3 instead of the ls2 like the gt. Either way its a bad ass car.

If its for your wife I'd get the auto. No point getting a manual if she doesn't like it. G8's are bad azz and haven't heard anything wrong about them, they're plenty strong too. For the right price I'd get that G8. Don't know why ppl are hating on red, its a hot color on a car. If you like it buy it, its for you and your wife not for them.Good luck

I've got 72,XXX miles on my '05 G6 GT and replaced the tires and the battery, pretty content with it.

But on topic, I know two poeple with G8's one's a 6 the other an 8 and both of them love the cars.

I believe the motor in the G8 Gt is an L76 technically. One of these will be my next car. Four door functionality built on the same platform as the new camaros I believe I read and 361 horsepower stock with the availability to really open it up more with simple mods! I haven't heard a bad review and I researched them extensively a few weeks ago. I think your wife and you will be more than happy!

If you're gonna wait for a GXP, you'd better be saving your bones at the same time.

They command a very hefty premium over the GT.
